SInce it was founded in 1954 The Colchester League of Hospital and Community Friends has been fulfilling its charitable work in the Colchester Hospitals. Over the years, as the hospital facilities in Colchester have changed, the League of Friends’ role has been adapted to fit in with what is required, but the League’s basic philosophy of care for patients, visitors and staff has never varied. The most visible work of the League is their Shops, Guiding Service, Ward Shop Trolleys, Ward Newspaper Rounds in Colchester General Hospital, and the tea bar at Essex County Hospital and cafe at the Primary Care Centre in Colchester. Along with paid staff, these outlets and services are manned by the many volunteers who willingly give of their time. Money raised by the League is ploughed back into the Colchester hospitals by providing special equipment – any request from any department is considered by the League’s Trustee Directors, they always try to help when they can.  Charity No: 1126625

ShadieFarage.com, is a charitable organisation (in assosciation with Naturel Change) which was formed in memory of our late friend and brother, Shadie Farage, who tragically died in a car accident in The Gambia in 2007. We fundraise for this charity regularly and all funds raised go directly to benefiting children in The Gambia; there are no administrative costs and our work to date can be seen on the charity website. Since starting in 2008, we have personally distributed 1335 footballs, 1056 kits and 312 pumps to 221 different schools along the full length of The Gambia. Our aim for our next fundraising event, KayakRiverGambia.com, is to raise £10,000 in the UK and £10,000 in The Gambia. Achieving our target will enable us to improve and develop infrastructure (such as classrooms and teacher housing) at a number of selected schools in real need of renovation in The Gambia. Please support us and help us give back to the children of The Gambia, a country that is close to our hearts. ‘KayakRiverGambia.com’ and ‘ShadieFarage.com’ work in association with ‘Naturel Change’ (a registered charity in England and Wales, No. 1140751, registered as a company limited by guarantee in England & Wales, No. 07383570).

St John's Church Edinburgh (UK, SC012836) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

St. John’s is a thriving Scottish Episcopal church in the heart of Edinburgh. However, St John’s is not just about the church and worship, but about the difference we make to individual lives. Our aim is to remain culturally relevant, accessible, inclusive and creative. We host a number of support groups and hundreds of events each year. Many of these work with the most disempowered people in society and promote social justice. We have recognised the very urgent need to improve and upgrade our space, so we can offer a better quality of support and outreach to these groups. The rooms we provide have no natural light and poor access. Our community hall is also outdated and lacks flexibility. Every penny raised through our appeal will help ensure St. John's continues to be a place of welcome, support and inspiration for future generations. Thank you for your support!
