1st Aldershot Scout Group (UK, 302195) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Welcome to the 1st Aldershot's donation page, thank you for visiting! The 1st Aldershot have been meeting since the beginning of the 20th century and after a short restbite (due to a silly thing called WWII) were rejuvinated in 1955.The 1st Aldershot prides itself on having a wealth of qualified instructors in its leader team, meaning that all members benefit from being shown the adventurous and exciting side of outside activities. The 1st Aldershot Scout Group currently meet in two wooden huts based in North Town. These huts have become a fond part of Aldershot’s heritage; shipped over from Canada in the 1960’s they had housed many troops during World War 2. The 1st Aldershot purchased the huts for £60 and they have sat in Eastern Road ever since. Despite great efforts from the many volunteers to keep the buildings maintained, we need to make some changes! We want to make our hut a place that is accessible to everyone and we want all of the groups who use our facilities to get the most they possibly can from their time with us. To do this we need to raise funding to enable us to put in a new disabled toilet and a fully functional kitchen. We are also hoping to raise a little bit more so that we can insulate the roof. This will mean we can save on our heating bills and spend more on ensuring our young people get the fantastic experiences we've been delivering for over a century! Our goal Is  £10,000If you can help email [email protected] Charity No: 302195 Find out more Website http://www.1staldershot.co.uk

HMS Warrior 1860 (UK, 256756) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

As you arrive in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the stunning sleek, black lines of Britain’s first iron-hulled, armoured warship, take your breath away. Launched in 1860 to counter the threat posed by the French Navy, HMS Warrior was the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet. Powered by steam and sail, she was the largest, fastest and most powerful ship of her day. Such was the pace of Victorian technological change that she was obsolete by 1883 and hulked in 1898. Following this she performed a variety of roles including forming a part of the Navy’s training school, a coastguard unit and a floating pontoon, before being transferred to Warrior Preservation Trust. In 1987 after extensive restoration, HMS Warrior returned to Portsmouth to take her rightful place within Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The Warrior Preservation Trust depends entirely on income raised from visitors, fundraising and events to preserve the ship for the benefit of this and future generations. Thank you for your support.
