We are a nationwide charity supporting families with children under 18 years of age with various conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Cancer, Autism, e.t.c. Our principal aims are to ensure children have life saving equipment so as to enable them to remain in the family home whilst undergoing essential treatment. We also supply respite breaks for families so they can enjoy some quality time together away from a hospital environment. Most of the families have either given up work or taken time off work to be the carer for the children so as you can imagine funds in the household are very restricted, as a charity we try to make the children's lives as comfortable and as happy as possible. . Being a non government funded charity we are finding it increasingly difficult to raise enough funds and are getting more and more requests from families so we are very grateful for any help we get as at it makes such a difference to the lives of these children.

YTD Raised: £0.00

Ironbridge Coracle Trust is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) set up to advance the culture and heritage of the craft of coracles and coracle making in the Ironbridge Gorge and on the River Severn for the benefit of the public Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.  Coracles are flat bottomed riverine boats built by weaving laths of wood into an oval shaped frame. Historically, coracle frames were covered in animal skins, although canvas, waterproofed with tar or bitumen, is more commonly used today The archaeological record shows that coracles have been in use across Europe for thousands of years, particularly in the region of Wales and the Welsh borders. Coracles often display regional variations in style and method of construction, with Ironbridge having its own unique design.Typically used for fishing and ferrying passengers across rivers, in Ironbridge coracles were often used for poaching and even for recovering cadavers from the river, playing hoaxes and saving lives! Coracles have been used in Ironbridge for many generations and the ICT exists to train new coraclers and coracle makers, to discover and interpret the history of the boats and the river men who used them, and to make acccessible to all the information we have gathered from so many friends of the Ironbridge Coracle. The ICT has purchased the last remaining coracle shed in Ironbridge and have developed plans to restore and interpret the shed. please help us by donating  Charity No: 1161685 Find out more Website Please click here to visit our website
