Stars of Hope is a small charity which aims to improve lives and provide education opportunities for children and vulnerable people within their communities. We provide hope, opportunities and care by sponsoring specific projects, currently in Kenya and Indonesia. Stars of Hope is run entirely by volunteers, and therefore, we have negligible adminstration costs. The Stars of Hope Children's Home in Ruai, Kenya is a home for 36 children from distressing circumstances, including abuse and abandonment. The Children's Home provides a home where they are clothed, fed, schooled and loved. We feel that education is very important to these children and the opportunity to attend school will have a fundamental difference in their lives. 32 of the Stars of Hope children are of school age and Stars of Hope is responsible for all the costs related to their education, including school fees, uniforms, transportation and school lunches. In addition, Stars of Hope also educates another 23 children from the local community. This year, the education budget is over £25,000 and we are constantly fundraising in order to be able to provide this life changing education for these 55 children. Sari Hati is our project in Bali, Indonesia. Sari Hati is a school for disabled young people. There are currently 25 pupils with varying degrees of disability. The school currently operates three days a week and provides a range of lessons and activities for the pupils, in addition to educating carers and parents. Sari Hati has a considerable and positive impact on the lives of these young people and offers invaluable support to their families.

A Charitable Trust promoting the education of young people Registered charity no. 1145079 www.xlltrust.org The UK based XLL Educational Trust was established in 2010 to provide sponsorship and bursaries to the Summit Schools in Maragua, Kenya so that orphans and poor students can have an education. Your donation will help transform the life of a child at The Summit Schools. It costs just £500 to provide one year’s education and full domestic support for a child at Summit. One hundred pounds allows a boarder to extend their stay at school during the vacations, in cases where returning to their home environment is considered by the school not to be in the child’s best interests. To support a day student who is still able to live with a relative, the cost is just £300.

Deaf Access provide a holistic range of services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults and children to improve and maintain their independence by providing information, support and services, as well as promoting public awareness and understanding. Deafness is not cute, does not tug on the heartstrings and people often think it is ‘less serious’ when they compare disabilities. Yet for the 1 in 6 adults & children with a hearing loss, being unable to follow conversation, missing vital information or social chit chat can have a devastating emotional impact. Their deafness cuts them off from people, their families, friends, groups and services- which negatively affects their independence, mental health and well being. In July 2010 BSMHD quoted the 2010 GP Survey statistics showing that Deaf people are the most discriminated against and most deprived in the country. They are far more likely to be unemployed; 13% compared to national average of 4%, have worse than average physical health-14% compared to 6%, those with poor health are 10% compared to national average of 6%. Deaf people are more likely to be a Carer; 26% compared to 9%. Crucially the mental wellbeing of the Deaf Community is far worse than the national average-10% of Deaf people having a psychological or emotional Condition, compared to 6%. This astonishing evidence is just a small example of why specialist support resource centres like Deaf Access are vitally needed.Your money will help us to be there for them- and you- when you need us by getting through the recession and cut backs- together we can make a difference! On behalf of Deaf Access, may we thank you for considering supporting us. Sue Craney Executive Director of Deaf Access Visit our Website at www.deaf-access.co.uk

Welcome to our fundraising page for Donside Village Community (DVC). Donside Village Community (DVC) SCIO is our charity organisation for our community of Donside Village in Tillydrone, Aberdeen. Donside is our new village on the site of a former papermill. We’re a sustainable community nestled on the banks of the River Don. Our strengths are our location, heritage, homes, greenspace, river, wildlife and most of all our community. We were set up to act in the best interest of our residents. We’re made up of representatives from our Village. We take on roles and responsibilities to develop our Village and our community. We achieve this through physical improvements and events and activities, designed to bring us together as we grow. We aim to act as a voice at a local level through local networks, Community Councils and other partner agencies, including our social landlord, Sanctuary Housing. We are created and are home to Aberdeen Community Energy and the Donside Hydro, Scotland's first urban community hydro. The DVC is much wider than just people who live in our Village.
