(UK, 1156322) Browse eventsPatients diagnosed with acute leukaemia can often feel isolated and lonely and want to reach out. Despite the incredible support their families and friends bring, many desperately want to talk to someone, who, through their own experience, knows exactly what it is like to walk in their shoes, someone who has been where they, themselves, are now. The Bpositive Patient Support Group is a beacon of moral support for acute leukaemia patients, their families and their friends; a network of people who understand, through first-hand experience themselves, and are there to offer them support in any way they can.
(UK, SC044095) Browse eventsIn October 2012 Angus foodbank was launched by Strathmore Christian Fellowship under the umbrella of The Trussell Trust. Every day people in Angus go hungry for reasons ranging from unemployment to redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income or even unexpected illness. We provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis. Rising costs of food and fuel combined with static income, high unemployment and changes to benefits are causing more and more people to come to foodbanks for help. Angus foodbank partners with churches and communities throughout the whole of Angus to help and support people in need. Please donate to support our cause. All food given out, is donated by schools, churches, businesses, individuals, or through supermarket collections. These collections engage the public at supermarkets where they are met by volunteers who offer shoppers a ‘foodbank shopping list’ and ask them to buy an extra item with their shop. At the warehouse, food is sorted by volunteers according to type and ‘best before date’, and then taken to foodbank centres, where it is made up into food parcels for clients. Care professionals such as social workers, Citizens Advice Bureau staff, welfare officers, health visitors, Job Centres amongst others, identify people in crisis and refer them to the foodbank. Clients attend a foodbank centre where they receive a warm welcome compassion and three days supply of emergency food.

Beyond the Wild was created to ignite the fire of divine love in souls, to teach them the skills necessary for their faith to survive and flourish in our world, and to help form and equip them for the mission and the role that they are called to play in the new evangelisation. To do this, we take people away from the world, and into the wild. There we teach them about wilderness survival looking at the things in the wild which threaten our lives and discovering the elements of survival; water, fire, shelter, and food, which are the keys to coming out alive. This leads us to explore the reality and importance of our divine life and to recognise the things in our world which threaten this life. In a dynamic, positive, and understandable way, we draw parallels between wilderness survival, and spiritual survival to teach people about the need to survive beyond the wild. “There is nothing quite like Beyond the Wild in any other programme for young people, that I have seen. I pray that many young men and women will be inspired and enthused through their experiences with Beyond the Wild so that they, too, will be confident witnesses of Jesus Christ.” - Rt Rev Mark O’Toole, Bishop of Plymouth and Patron of Beyond the Wild By engaging young people with our dynamic events Beyond the Wild has brought the light of the Gospel to hundreds of young people, igniting the fire of divine love in their hearts. But our mission is just beginning! Now, as a registered charity we have stepped out in faith to launch our ministry as a full-time apostolate. We are ready and willing to put out into the deep but we need the funding to do so. Please help us to ignite the fire of divine love.
