The centre has served the local community for over 75 years. Early in 2015 the discovery of asbestos led to the full closure of the venue. The trustees of GCA were delighted to announce the reopening of part of the building in September 2015 and are now committed to fundraising to achieve refurbishment of the whole building so that it is fit to serve future generations.
