Youth Business International champions enterprise Youth Business International is a not-for-profit organisation that leads a global network of independent country initiatives helping young people start their own business and create employment. Through our network we assist young entrepreneurs who are unable to find support elsewhere, with a combination of access to capital, volunteer mentoring, and other business development services. Our approach enables the launch of thousands of new enterprises and significantly increases business survival and growth – key factors in job creation and sustainable economic development. Our role is to increase the capacity and efficiency of our members to enable them to grow, by providing technical assistance, sharing knowledge, developing common tools and quality standards, and by generating resources. We also expand the network into new countries in order to reach more young people in need. To deliver this support, we work with governments, businesses and multi-lateral and civil society organisations. YBI’s goal is to enable our network to support 100,000 new young entrepreneurs annually by 2020, thereby creating a total of more than one million jobs and making a significant contribution to the global employment challenge. Willow Tree Playgroup is a small pre-school playgroup in the village of Kings Cliffe, Northamptonshire. We're based in the grounds of the village school and have built up close links with them over the past four decades. Children from the age of two to school age come to us from Kings Cliffe and the surrounding villages; we currently have 17 registered places for each morning session. Willow Tree Playgroup is run by a volunteer committee of parents who arrange a lot of fundraising with cake sales, fun race and quiz nights, Christmas cards, childrens parties and more. But we are always in need of donations - government funding alone isn't enough to buy new toys, maintain the playgroup and keep it affordable for the local community. We are very grateful for your support!
The Rainbow Family Trust offers the families of very sick children at Francis House Children's Hospice a respite from their role as carers and gives the children a loving home from home. This is an extremely worthwhile cause supported by Broadbottom School, the other beneficiary of this appeal. Broadbottom School lives up to its motto, "Love Learning, Love Life" and supporting the governors in this challenge will make a real impact in the parish.

St Albans Hockey Club is one of the most successful sports clubs in the area with both the Men’s and Womens first teams playing in the National League and seventeen teams playing on a regular basis. As a hockey club we also feel it is important to increase youth sports here in St Albans, hence the development of our large Colts Section which involves more than 150 girls and boys. And that number is growing every year. However the success and growth of our club has put considerable pressure on the Clubs traditional facilities at Clarence Park. There is only one artificial turf pitch, minimal car parking space and a pavilion which cannot be extended, as it is a listed building. With this in mind, and to help us maintain our position as one of the largest clubs in the country and a centre of excellence in St Albans, Hertfordshire and the East, we have had to look elsewhere. An opportunity has arisen for the Club to partner with Oakland’s College in the development of two new artificial pitches and sports facilities at their Oakland’s College campus in St Albans. This would achieve three goals: So we are now jointly looking to raise the £1.1 million and we are already 82% of the way there. Oakland’s College is obtaining a range of educational grants, and we have obtained £187,000 grants from Hockey England and other sources. However we still need just under £200,000 to make this dream a reality.

Our aim is to advance education of children and women from lower socio-economic background by assisting them in the provison of knowledge, skills, and necessary facilities. This is the best way to help them come out of poverty and become self-reliant. We have started this by supporting a well run local charitable school in Aligarh District of India which imparts completely secular modern education to children irrespective of caste or creed. This school is run by very respected and sincere social workers. The school and its activities are inspected twice a year by us to ensure that all the donations are being properly utilised. Besides, the school also trains women from poor backgrounds in basic literacy and vocational skills to make them self-sufficient. For more information, please visit www.mahak.org.uk.
