Our first priority is to keep the D-Day story alive by transforming the Portsmouth D-Day Museum through a £4.9 million project that will create exciting new exhibitions and a new activities programme and help it become the national D-Day ‘hub’ ahead of the 75th anniversary in 2019. In January 2016 the D-Day Museum secured a grant of £4m from the Heritage Lottery Fund towards its redevelopment project. In addition to the funding that has been promised by Portsmouth City Council which runs the D-Day Museum, we need to find an additional £170,000. (UK, 1139245) Browse eventsChance to Play is empowering vulnerable children through exercise and sport Initially Chance to Play focused on Vietnam. As a result of years of poverty and the after effects of the Vietnam War, the country has large numbers of orphaned and underprivileged children who have not had the opportunity to develop key skills in communications team work, physical coordination and self-confidence. Through sport we will change the young lives for the better. Our first project came to fruition in August 2011 in Da Lat in central Vietnam. We partnered with Saigon Children’s Charity, and funded the renovation of a playground and swings for a shelter for visually impaired children. The project has been a great success and the first of many! If you are interested in what Chance to Play does and want to make a difference we can send you fundraising ideas and support and regular updates about what your donations are achieving in our projects.
