We are a happy and faithful congregation, meeting regularly in our lovely church, raised in 1819 on the same site where a church was first established in the 12th Century. The name Kintore is thought to come from the Gaelic, Ceann-an-torr, where "Ceann" means the head, and "Torr" a round hill, which many locals believe it to refer to Tuach Hill, the place of a battle in the 9th century in which the locals helped King Kenneth II to victory over invading Danes.

We work with individuals and businesses to address market failures – the constraints that prevent a market system from operating efficiently. These constraints may include skills, technologies, availability of information, market linkages, access to finance, infrastructure, governance or policies. We address market failures in three ways: Develop Capacity: We help individuals and communities acquire skills, share knowledge and apply the technologies needed to build successful farms and businesses. Strengthen Market Connections: We coordinate among industry players and connect emerging businesses and farms to capital, networks and suppliers. Improve the Business Environment: We encourage self-sustaining economic activity by addressing the policies, information and incentives that help markets function better. In 2012 we supported over half a million farmers and over 1,500 businesses to realise more than $70M in incremental revenue, which resulted in over 9,000 new jobs and $10M in incremental wages. Together we estimate that this benefitted 2.9 million men, women and children.

(UK, 1126948) Browse eventsSince 2003, Ugandan children have been attending school in much larger numbers but if education is to have its desired impact, then lunchtime meals have to be made available. Our aim has always been to raise the standard of learning of children in Ugandan primary schools. Lunch4Learning was set up in 2008 to raise the standards of learning in primary schools in Uganda by helping these schools provide children with a midday meal. This is to be achieved by helping schools to grow food crops that will provide a lunch for pupils who presently go without one. We also support schools with income-generating projects. Many of these children go without breakfast and will have walked long distances to get to school where drinking water is not always available either so we also look after their water needs as best we can. A midday meal improves pupils' attendance and thus, increases attainment levels and future lives. This encapsulates Lunch4Learning’s primary objectives and reflects those of the World Bank, UNICEF and the World Food Programme. What is very different about Lunch4Learning is that it encourages sustainable agriculture and whilst helping schools to grow their own crops, it also provides hands-on opportunities for involvement of extended school communities - parents, churches etc. - to advance their children’s futures across generations. We, therefore, expect the impact of our work to be considerable, sustainable and also long term across communities. Lunch4Learning was awarded NGO status in Uganda in July 2011. Ours is an ambitious, long term, sustainable programme. By empowering schools to grow their own food and provide a daily lunch to all their pupils, we will encourage children to be successful learners and to develop practical and sustainable skills at the same time.

SB Dawn is registered as a Dunkirk Little Ship and was damaged in Dover Harbour while taking part in Operation Dynamo. Dawn is also on the National Historic Ships Register. The hard work of rebuilding her to an operational condition is now completed and following a successful first season based at West Mersea in Essex, funding is now required for the ongoing programme of essential maintenance, accommodation improvements, heating, facilities upgrades, restoration and improvement of the original 100 year old refitted equipment. Hopefully with the help of our volunteers and donators, much of this work will be ready for next years sailing season. The aim for next year is to be fully funded and ready for a programme of events such as all the famous Thames Barge Matches where young persons can train in teams for a race crew in a unique type of vessel. Other events planned are involved with Mersea Cadet Week, Mersea and other Regattas around the East Coast, various sailing trips visiting the creeks and old barge quays such as in Bradwell where the Dawn Trust is planning to rebuild the barge quay, again with donation and Lottery funding. We even have plans as a one off to use Essex Wildlife Trust's Abbotts Hall Farm jetty for loading horse feed and hay stacked on deck to deliver for the local supplier to the Household Cavalry in London, a job the Dawn was originally built for in 1897. Let’s just hope we don’t also have to bring back the manure!

Following the immigration movement of the 60’s and 70’s the UK saw an influx of hardworking Sikh men looking for employment. Due to its proximity to Gatwick Airport, the new town of Crawley became home to a large number of Sikh men. After working in Crawley and saving enough money these men called their families over to join them and began a long process of establishing themselves within British life. As a part of the Sikh community in India these families were very involved in practicing the Sikh faith. It was with these principles and desires to continue to practice the Sikh faith that led them to hire the Montefiore Hall in Three Bridges on a weekly basis for the sangat. They then established the first dedicated Sikh Gurdwara in Crawley in 1981 on the current site in Spencers road. As the Sikh community has grown the Gurdwara needs to keep pace with the change and needs of the community. Plans have been designed and approved to refresh the current site and build a new Gurdwara for the community. We call upon not only the Sikh community in Crawley but all people from around the world to help fundraise so we can fulfil the vision of the new Siri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Crawley.

Leukaemia back in January 2008 at the age of 2 and after just over two long years of intense treatment including chemotherapy she has now been classed as in remission by her specialists. She will be monitored for the rest of her life to ensure this horrible illness does not return and although she is well at the minute she will always be classed as having cancer. Over the course of her treatment we met some very inspirational people who were not only there for us throughout but also tried their hardest to keep life as normal as possible. It is with these people in mind that we set up Neve’s Charities as they all belong to several small charities that most people have not heard of and as such do not fund. Our Charity aims to, not only help fund these people, but also to try and get these charities out in the public domain.
