Birstall Scout Group (UK, 524710) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Birstall Scout Group promotes the development of young people, both boys and girls, in line with The Scout Association policies and procedures. Our group consists of Beavers (6-8yrs), Cubs (8-10yrs) and Scouts (10-14yrs) and is growing year on year. Our aim is to educate, guide and help develop young children within the global scouting programme which, includes activities such as outdoors, community, fitness, global, creative, beliefs and attitude. It is important for us to ensure there is a route for all children to join our membership and partake in the benefits the group can offer. This allows all children to participate in activities and attend trips away including camping etc. We feel the group allows children to develop and take responsibility for themselves and others to assist them in life as they develop into an adult. The group has members from various backgrounds and will help and support low income families to ensure their children are not discriminated against and can still enjoy all activities and education which the scout group offers. Please help us in fundraising to further enhance our group in areas of growth, equipment, activities and development.

St Richard's School Bredenbury Court (UK, 1113203) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

St Richard’s is a co-educational boarding and day school for 2½ to 13 year olds.  While the school is founded on the Catholic faith and Christian values are paramount, we welcome children of all denominations.  St Richard’s is set in 35 acres of glorious Herefordshire countryside. We have recently launched an Appeal to enable us to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Hirons Hall, our indoor sports hall with which any Old Ricardian will be very familiar.  Primarily, we intend to re-roof and re-clad the Hirons Hall and install heating.  Our second phase is to build changing facilities alongside the Hirons Hall; this will have the added benefit of releasing a lot of pressure around the back corridors of the main building.  To improve access to this area and parking in general we will re-model the staff carpark and create a more aesthetically pleasing approach to the school.  Any surplus funds at this stage will be channelled towards the updating and refurbishment of the school's other facilities. Please join us in making this a successful and exciting project; we have set ourselves a demanding challenge but are confident that, with the loyal support of all those who come into contact with the school, it is all very achievable.

Behind the Concept The 2011 riots. Gang culture. Knife crime. London is one the most celebrated and visited cities in the world yet it’s not difficult to find negative perceptions of our young people. Unfortunately, the numerous challenges facing young Londoners have been met by funding cuts in the education sector and a planned narrowing of the curriculum. In this context, schools are faced with the harsh realities of preparing pupils for an increasingly competitive employment market whilst trying to create and develop ambitions and alter perceptions of what young people can achieve. The YouthLink Network was established to help schools meet these challenges head on by bringing communities together. We believe that by providing funding to expand education and by allowing young people the opportunities to meet would be mentors and inspiring speakers they can begin to create networks, raise their aspirations and most importantly, gain the confidence to realise their ambitions. Mission Our mission is to ensure that young people are able to experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of their learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances. What We Do Launched in 2012, The YouthLink Network support out-of-classroom learning programmes by supplying London’s primary schools with:

tri4japan (UK, 1141488) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Japan is gripped by its worst disaster since World War 2.Earthquakes, tsunami and now nuclear radioactivity fears. My Japanese wife Rieko and I lived in Japan for many years and have family and friends there. On Friday 11th March 2011, we watched in horror when the earthquake and tsunami hit Eastern Japan. We instantly knew we had to do something. One of the port towns called Kamaishi was literally washed away in front of our eyes. Kamaishi was the town on TV that really struck a chord string with us. Suddenly, this was real and it suddenly this was personal. When we saw buildings we had stayed in, shops we had visited, and roads we had walked down, vanish in front of our eyes, under the relentless surge of that all consuming Tsunami, we knew we had to act. Not only people suffering in Kamaishi, but those affected all over Japan, and if we had the resources, all people suffering in the world. However, we are just two people, with limited resources and limited time. Rather than watch in vain and prey, we put a stake in the ground and said, Now is the time to act. The earthquake and Tsnuami we saw hit Kamaishi was the catalyst, for our call to action. Why Tri ? Triathlon is all we know, I have been involved in triathlon for 25 years, it is not only our livelihood and our hobby, and a way of life. Although we say tri4japan, we want to include all sports, swim, bike run, endurance and sprint, individual and team. The true essence of our mission is that all people from all sports around the world come together and TRY FOR JAPAN. We have started Tri4Japan to raise money to help the people of Kamaishi who in many cases have literally lost everything in this devastating disaster. Please support us!
