Welcome to the My Donate page for the 6th Annual Wheelchair Challenge to be held at Bedford International Athletic Stadium, Barkers Lane, Bedford, MK41 9SB,on Sunday 8th October 2017 Bedford hosted more Olympic and Paralympic teams for pre-Games training than any other town or city in the country other than those hosting a specialist facility. The majority of these were Paralympians numbering almost 200 athletes and officials. To create a legacy that would encourage young disabled people, in particular, to engage with sport, or improve personal performance, there needed to be additional funding and a wider appreciation among the public at large of the challenges of disabled sport. The Games themselves had raised the awareness of disabled sport, but it was now necessary to translate this awareness into real opportunities for young disabled people. Hence the “birth” of the Wheelchair Challenge, now in its 6th year.Over the past 5 years the event has raised nearly £30,000 for sport for the disabled. This year the event will continue to support sport for the disabled including starting a disability sports club in Bedford.Please donate to support these worthy causes.
