The CareTech Foundation is an independent charity with ambitious and clear-sighted objectives to deliver meaningful impact to communities in need in the UK and overseas. The CareTech Foundation’s work is focused on the following three key objectives: Physical and learning disabilities and mental health - Supporting disabled people and those with long-term health difficulties, including those with mental health conditions and complex physical and learning disabilities. The Foundation provides match-funding to CareTech staff’s individual fundraising efforts for charitable causes in line with the Foundation’s Charitable Objects. Family & Friends. The Foundation delivers a small grants programme to support the family and friends of CareTech staff facing significant hardship or for issues affecting local communities in which CareTech plc operates. Responsible Business. CareTech plc has a long-standing clear public commitment to its wider responsibilities to the environment and communities in which it operates. The establishment of the Foundation provides an additional vehicle by which support and develop Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to improve their impact in line with the Foundation’s Charitable Objects and to deliver public benefit.

Every year an increasing number of patients are diagnosed with serious kidney disease and kidney failure. Some of the areas we're currently funding research in are: Investigating causes of poorly developed kidneys in babies; Ways to reduce the infections dialysis patients suffer from their dialysis catheters; Investigating whether the bladder changes the composition of urine after it is made; Investigating the way in which cells from the kidney die or survive in response to disease states; Optimal way to treat anaemia, a very prevalent complication in kidney patients which causes severe fatigue and reduction in quality of life; Investigating a condition called "Dialysis-related Amyloid". On 2nd May 2024 our lives changed forever…… Our son Josh Baker passed away suddenly two weeks before his 21st birthday, leaving us heartbroken. He was just at the start of his cricketing career – something that had always been part of his and our lives. Josh loved life and was always finding ways to fulfil his dreams. We want to do something that will leave a legacy and so we will be launching the JB33 Foundation in 2025. This will become our focus – working with cricket clubs offering opportunities to all. This is a start of an exciting journey for us both to hopefully give something back to the sport that Josh and we love. Paul & Lisa Baker
