Together with the Children is dedicated to permanently ending the misery of street children. It is the sister organisation of the JUCONI Foundation (Juntos Con Los Ninos) which has transformed the lives of thousands of children and their families in Mexico and Ecuador. For many children living and working on the streets of Mexico and Ecuador, JUCONI is their last chance. JUCONI works with highly excluded children who drop out of or are missed by existing state and voluntary service provisions. Every time such children are failed by another organisation, they become more detached and less trusting that their lives can be improved. For the majority of children supported by JUCONI, integration into a safe family environment is the result of the intensive and personalised work carried out by highly trained educators over a period of time. However, for some children, the creation of a safe environment in their familial home is not possible and, in those cases, children are housed and nurtured in JUCONI House. JUCONI has developed a pionnering model to address the needs of street children and their families and shares this knowledge worldwide through its training programme.

The Orkney Drugs Dog is a new charity which aims to provide a drugs dog for the county.Following concerns originally raised by the Community Safety Partnership around the level of drug misuse and abuse, and the disruption caused to family life in the county, Orkney Drugs Dog has been set up to provide drugs education and detection services in Orkney. The main aim of the charity is to provide education and awareness in local schools and Orkney College. The dog and handler will also provide detection support to Police Scotland, for example at ferry and air ports and in other areas where local detection is required. For the past year, and more, the Steering Group have been working closely with Voluntary Action Orkney, the Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, Police Scotland and Shetland’s Dogs Against Drugs team. Two new posts will be created in support of the initiative: a Development Officer, who will source future funding, and a specialist Dog Handler. Once these posts are filled, we will then be in a position to search for a suitable dog to become our Drugs Detection Dog.Once the handler and dog are in position they will head south for full training and Home Office licencing. They will then prepare to become ready for educational duties in our schools and our College and operationally ready for drugs detection under a partnership agreement with Police Scotland. We are looking forward to them being out and about in the community, on the streets and into our educational and residential establishments in order to get the dog used to being in among the public in a variety of situations and we hope that the public embrace this initiative fully. La Nuova Musica provides the highest standard performances of Baroque music for the benefit of as wide an audience as possible La Nuova Musica is a Baroque ensemble based in London, whose chief desire is to bring the highest standard of musical performance of 17th and 18th century repertoire for the benefit of as wide an audience as possible. Far from being dead and remote, the music and texts of the Baroque help us in the 21st century to ponder the concerns of human nature in an emotionally truthful way. Coming to us from an age before technical means of communication and enhancement of sound were available, the music’s impact is colourful, sophisticated and visceral. The energy that that the Baroque demands of its performers, is La Nuova Musica’s most potent tool in striving to move audiences. Donations through Virgin Money Giving are designated to support the Deep Roots youth discipleship programme. This is a Christian interdenominational organisation working in Uganda to develop young people’s relationships with Christ, encouraging discipleship and equipping the youth to understand and live out their faith. In much the same way as plants need deep roots to survive and flourish, young Christians need to develop deep roots if they are to be fruitful. Many young people hear the word of God in Uganda and respond; far more than in the West. However, opportunities to strengthen their faith and relationship with Christ are often lacking, especially in rural areas. As a result, many of the youth face the cares of their world (the legacy of armed conflict, poverty, disease and the conflicting pulls of both western and traditional cultures) with ungrounded faith, largely unsupported and unprepared. Through working with the youth, Deep Roots aims to change a nation through the transformation of individuals and communities who will practically demonstrate an alternative to the lifestyles and life choices that have lead to scourges such as HIV and AIDS, corruption, robbery, poverty and domestic violence that are sadly all too common in local society.

VCC was established by Lynne Stewart who developed the charity from her own experiences of volunteering in India after leaving school. It is Lynne’s dream to offer others the life changing experience she benefited from. After finishing my sixth year at Elgin Academy, I went on a volunteer placement to India. From that experience I felt I became a more confident person and developed skills that I may not have if I hadn’t made that move. I would love to offer other people a similar experience. VCC has been set up to realise that dream. Lynne Stewart, Chairperson of VCC VCC not only gives volunteers the opportunity to gain new skills while learning about a different culture, but also, the opportunity to share their own skills and culture with those they meet and work with while on placement. VCC has developed a joint venture agreement with a children’s home in India and together we are offering volunteers the opportunity to work in the home to the benefit of all involved, the children and young people, the staff and YOU! VCC not only gives volunteers the opportunity to gain new skills while learning about a different culture, but also, the opportunity to share their own skills and culture with those they meet and work with while on placement.
