Awareness for Autism UK (UK, 1173769) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Awareness For Autism UK (AFA:UK) was founded in July 2013, with the aim and vision of providing support to other families living with autism. It soon became apparent that there was so much we were able to do - and therefore set out to make AFA:UK a registered charity. Off the back of this, we run very successful autism friendly football sessions weekly and have trialled and run  autism friendly cinema and soft play sessions; which now run up to a dozen times a year. Through our fundraising, we have set out to donate sensory and educational equipment to individuals with autism, for use in school or higher education.  By donating to AFA:UK, you will be helping us to continue supporting small projects, such as the autism friendly football sessions - and also the donation of sensory and educational equipment.  Charity No: 1173769 Find out more Website Please click here to visit our website Facebook http://www.facebook.com/AwarenessForAutismUK Twitter http://www.twitter.com/@AFA_CharityUK

Thinking Development (UK, 1147071) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Thinking Development aims to increase access to education in Haiti and promote equitable and sustainable development, through the design and reconstruction of a destroyed girls' school in Port-au-Prince.  Who we are We are a collaborative and imaginative NGO, connecting a community of nuns, teachers and school girls in downtown Port-au-Prince with a group of designers, architects, documenters and development planners associated with University College London’s Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction. What we do Together we have completed the design for the permanent reconstruction of Centre Rosalie Javouhey - a girls' school complex destroyed in the 2010 earthquake. This inspiring, sustainable, replicable and multi-functional educational complex in the heart of Haiti's capital city will accommodate 1,250 girls, their teachers and staff. We are documenting this process in short films that capture this unique journey, and hope to share its lessons with other development practitioners, other disaster victims, and all those with a passion for breaking down international barriers in the name of equitable and sustainable development. Why we need your support Currently, Centre Rosalie is operating out of small, temporary buildings, with reduced admissions, no clean drinking water and not enough classrooms, toilets and kitchen facilities to accommodate the demand. This school serves some of Port-au-Prince's most disadvantaged girls, many of whom were extremely traumatised by the 2010 earthquake, suffering injuries, anxiety and stress, and losing relatives and homes. By helping us raise funds to rebuild the school, you will enable 1,250 girls to develop their minds and recover from the trauma in this inspiring and uniquely nature-surrounded school, designed and built in the social and physical context of the region. Every penny we raise will go towards getting this school built and ensuring these children get the education they deserve. There are many ways you can help. Here are a few ideas...

Sports Aid Yorkshire And Humberside (UK, 1070965) Browse events

SportsAid supports the sports stars of tomorrow today - helping the next generation of British sporting talent to succeed. For over 30 years, SportsAid has supported talented young sports people when they need it the most - at the start of their journey to international success. SportsAid is the first organisation to recognise their talent, often when Mum and Dad are their only sponsors. Young athletes, both able-bodied and those with a disability, are nominated to SportsAid by their sport’s national governing body (NGB). This ensures that the right athletes are helped at the right time and in the right way. It is a proven and established process that makes a genuine difference. At the 2012 Olympics, SportsAid alumni won 20 of the 29 Gold medals achieved by Team GB athletes, including 5 of the 7 'Yorkshire' Gold medals.  In Yorkshire in 2011-12, SportsAid supported over 200 of the region's best emerging athletes with over £150k of funding.

We are working towards restoring at least part of the railway as a heritage attraction, working with all interested parties to enhance tourism in the area. This will be the only Heritage Railway in the East Riding of Yorkshire. We know the real benefits that similar projects (both small and large) bring to areas in other parts of the country and hope our region will be able to see these benefits too. With planning permission in place and having already secured a first round of funding, we are now starting work on-site and need your help to continue fund raising. With your help we can realise our aims and give East Yorkshire a much needed tourist attraction.
