Those using the shelter are assessed for issues such as drug and alcohol dependence, mental health and relationship problems. They are then provided with counselling, advice and a means of referral for treatment. Residents are also given help with regard to finding a permanent home and currently 85% of them move on to live in their own accommodation. They can still attend the Sanctuary on a daily basis for training and guidance sessions. Several have also become volunteers at the Sanctuary.
