Gipton Together work with children aged 5ys -16yrs. 200+ children attend our activities five evenings a week. All our activities were chosen by the children themselves rather than adults telling them what to do. We believe this is why our project has been very successful in reaching some hard to reach children. To ensure all the children have affordable access to the arts and sport we charge £1 to attend. We run 23 weekly classes per week in various styles of dance, musical theatre, drama, karate, boxing, cheerleading, drumming and tumbling. Gipton Together is well summed up by our mission statement, ‘Expanding horizons and inspiring positive choices’, and our aims are: To create opportunities for children to enjoy and participate in the performing arts and sport, developing self-discipline, confidence, strength of character, health and wellbeing To have a safe place for the children to go in the evenings, reducing their exposure to crime/anti-social behaviour To continue to develop opportunities for children to broaden their choices and improve their life skills To continue to develop new opportunities and activities for our children that have a positive and a beneficial impact on gaining more life skills To improve children's leadership and team working skills and consequently improve employment
