Turn to Starboard is a registered charity using sail training to support Armed Forces personnel affected by military operations. We help retired and serving personnel and their families. At Turn to Starboard we regularly witness that it is easier to share experiences with others who have served in the Forces. By grouping these individuals together, we allow them to begin their journey of readjustment. We aim to help people leaving the Armed Forces gain qualifications that will help them find new careers in the marine industry. When two boats are heading straight towards each other, they avoid collision by following a simple rule of sailing –  turn to starboard (turn to the right). We use sailing to help Armed Forces personnel and their families make the right turn.Based at Falmouth Marina in Cornwall, we are a group of Yachtmasters and volunteers – civilian, ex-service and serving who help military veterans get on the right track.We use Royal Yachting Association (RYA) sailing courses to support Armed Forces personnel who have been affected by military operations.  We also provide sailing trips to enable Service families who have been affected by operations to spend some time together on a skippered yacht.  Charity No: 1161201 Find out more Website http://www.turntostarboard.co.uk/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/turntostarboard/

Action for Ingwavuma is a UK registered charity which works in a remote part of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Every day the people who live in Ingwavuma, struggle to survive, dealing with extreme poverty and the full impact of the HIV Aids pandemic. The life expectancy here is 39 years. Action for Ingwavuma helps this community to help itself, working with a women's group and an educational charity. We set up and support community gardens, sponsor orphans, undertake extensive help with water and sanitary projects, fund marketing initiatives for the self-help women's group called Fancy Stitch, buy high nutrient food supplements, have bought an essential vehicle for the women's group etc. All the funds we raise here in the UK go to the charity, all the workers in the UK are volunteers and pay for all their own expenses. We are in constant contact with our charity partners in Ingwavuma and visit regularly to ensure that all the money raised is correctly spent.
