PACT Educational Trust (UK, 1053810) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

PACT Educational Trust was founded by a group of Catholic parents and educators to establish schools and support families whose deepest desire is that their children grow into adults of integrity, committed to living their lives by Christian principles; who, amongst the exhilarating and challenging opportunities that the new Millennium presents, are resolved to be the exemplary citizens and inspirational leaders that society needs. This is achieved through the twin pillars of academic excellence and character development. We have an overall target of £5 million to establish the BroadOak Bursary Fund to help thousands of children aged 3-18 to gain access to the best that the UK has to offer in terms of personalised, character based education.PACT Educational Trust runs four schools: Oakwood, Oliver House, The Cedars and The Laurels. HMS Warrior 1860 (UK, 256756) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

As you arrive in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the stunning sleek, black lines of Britain’s first iron-hulled, armoured warship, take your breath away. Launched in 1860 to counter the threat posed by the French Navy, HMS Warrior was the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet. Powered by steam and sail, she was the largest, fastest and most powerful ship of her day. Such was the pace of Victorian technological change that she was obsolete by 1883 and hulked in 1898. Following this she performed a variety of roles including forming a part of the Navy’s training school, a coastguard unit and a floating pontoon, before being transferred to Warrior Preservation Trust. In 1987 after extensive restoration, HMS Warrior returned to Portsmouth to take her rightful place within Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The Warrior Preservation Trust depends entirely on income raised from visitors, fundraising and events to preserve the ship for the benefit of this and future generations. Thank you for your support.

Emmaus Preston (UK, 1073677) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Emmaus Preston supports formerly homeless people by giving them a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to get back on their feet again. For many people who experience homelessness, one of the biggest obstacles they must overcome is a loss of self-esteem. Emmaus provides an opportunity to regain this, with a chance to make a real contribution to their community. Emmaus communities are not hostels for the homeless; they provide a home for as long as someone needs it. For many, this support and stability is like the family they don’t have, providing a safe environment in which to settle and rebuild their lives. Often this is an opportunity to overcome issues such as addiction, get support with mental health issues or rebuild relationships with estranged family. Social enterprise is central to the Emmaus model as it provides meaningful work for companions but also generates funding to maintain communities. Companions living in Emmaus communities are expected to sign off all benefits, with the exception of housing benefit which is used to help support the community. The rest of the funding that is needed is generated through social enterprise and fundraising. Emmaus communities deliver a significant return on investment. Research shows that for every £1 invested in a community, there is an £11 social, environmental and economic return, with savings to the benefits bill, health services and a reduction in crime. Your support for us is invaluable and you will be making a real difference to someone formerly homelss life.
