The Helen Atkin Riding for Disabled Group is based in Buxton, Derbyshire. It is a charitable voluntary group that has provided riding therapy for over 30 years to disabled children and adults from the High Peak. The specially selected horses and ponies help to improve riders' physical and mental well being, help them achieve and improve their educational attainment and learn a sport all while having fun. To ensure maximum enjoyment, safety and achievement, specialist equipment is required for some riders. These can be expensive. Trained coaches and volunteers are required to provide tailored sessions for individual riders' needs. The group are required to keep volunteers and coaches updated in safety, safeguarding and matters relating to providing therapy using the horse. The group do not own their own horses but hire them from the Buxton Riding School, where the group is based. This enables the group to have flexibility of the size of horse or pony to suit the rider but also enables the more able riders to challenge their equestrian skills. The group is planning to expand in the future which will make greater financial demands on the group. The group has to raise every penny to enable them to provide riding therapy to mentally and physically disabled children and adults in the High Peak area. Please donate to support our cause, and improve lives. Thank you so much. Charity No: 1074129
