Alexander Armstrong calls for music lovers to help complete Bach Cantatas recordings with Sir John Eliot Gardiner Founded and directed by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, the three Monteverdi ensembles, the Monteverdi Choir, the English Baroque Soloists and Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique, constitute a unique combination; working independently of each other but also as equal partners with a remarkable synergy. Choir and orchestras create a lyrical intensity of sound and challenge audience expectations of classical music. A leading force on the international music scene, we strive for excellence in everything we do. Our international group of musicians are world-renowned specialists in period performance, and with our artistic director Sir John Eliot Gardiner, deliver ground-breaking projects that span eight centuries of musical masterpieces. We believe passionately in nurturing future generations of instrumentalists and singers and developing emerging talent. Through our Apprenticeship Scheme we place young musicians alongside experienced professionals, offering them opportunities to perform at the highest level as both ensemble members and soloists. Thank you to every one of our supporters, no matter what you give. Your support enables us to continue to provide unique opportunities to hear the excellent work of Sir John Eliot Gardiner and his ensembles. We have no government subsidy and rely 100% on the generosity of our Individual, Corporate, Trust and Foundation donors to survive. Alexander Armstrong calls for music lovers to help complete Bach Cantatas recordings with Sir John Eliot Gardiner “Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s Bach Cantata recordings are glorious and I have followed the series from the beginning. To play a small part in helping to complete such a historic collection is a huge privilege and I hope thousands of people will join me in a rare chance to be an arts philanthropist!” Alexander Armstrong Join Alexander Armstrong and the Monteverdi Choir & Orchestra in our search to find 2,500 music lovers to donate £20 towards recreating the magic of our award-winning musical pilgrimage. Help us to record all of J.S. Bach’s church cantatas by performing and recording the missing cantatas from the series, the Cantatas for Ascension Day. Twenty-seven multi-award-winning, two-CD volumes have already been released over five years, but the Ascension Cantatas are still missing. They were due to be recorded in Salisbury Cathedral during the original pilgrimage in 2000, but noise issues meant the recording became impossible. Sir John Eliot Gardiner, determined to complete the set, wants to recreate the artistic and architectural conditions of the Bach Cantata Pilgrimage in two concerts at St Giles, Cripplegate, on Thursday 10th May 2012. For this to happen, over the next 5 weeks we need your help to raise £50,000. With a donation from as little as £20, you will become part of our production team for the Ascension Cantatas concerts and live recordings on 10th May and help us to complete this long awaited final recording.
