Right Choice Academy (UK, 1161957) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Right Choice Academy enables young people to take part in activities that may otherwise be inaccessible or unknown to them due to social, economic or personal disadvantage. These positive experiences will engage, motivate and inspire them to realise their full potential.RCA offers an experience in which young people can discover so much about themselves and what they are capable of achieving in a challenging environment through their own efforts. Many of the young people we will work with are low educational achievers and a lack of self-esteem means they have no belief in their ability to change the course of their lives for the better. They lack confidence in their own ability, find it difficult to communicate and relate with others, and to maintain relationships.A number of the young people are from areas of social and economic deprivation, both urban and rural. A proportion have emotional or behavioural problems, are resistant to authority or even advice, and are hard to reach and engage with. Some of the young people are from troubled family backgrounds, and that includes those who are in or have been in care, are young carers or are victims of abuse. Hope Springs Recovery Centre (UK, 1156534) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Hope Springs Recovery Centre is a Drop-In Centre aimed to support people in recovery from substance addiction and mental health problems including PTSD. The centre has in existence for five years after being established by a local priest who was concerned about the limited support provided by statutory services to help people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. All too often people who had been through a detox or rehabilitation process were falling back into addiction. Drug counselling by local services was often limited to six sessions and then people were on their own. Without continuous support from services many people ended up relapsing.Hope Springs is not a religious organisation. It aims to provide unlimited, non-judgemental, on-going support for anyone who wishes to maintain their recovery. The support we offer involves activities such as art & craft, cycling, allotment, walking, cookery, fishing, music and more. In addition to physical activities Hope Springs also runs peer led meditation sessions, relapse awareness sessions and the hosting of recovery courses run by Intuitive Thinking Skills as well as evening meetings run by AA and NA.  Our Drop-in centre is open Mon – Fri from 10am to 4pm and this is the hub from which all our activities begin. The centre has a footfall of around 300 each month. Over the last year or so Hope Springs has worked with local charity ‘Rethink Mental Illness’ to offer group sessions for people with mental health problems. We also have a strong relationship with Forces on Line and some ex-service personnel recovering from PTSD attend our centre and help with our activities. Addictions and mental health problems go hand in hand and Hope Springs aims to provide hope and a place of welcome and understanding to all who can benefit from our services.Addiction and mental health issues can affect any family at any time regardless of education or background. Statutory services are good but sometimes extra support is required when people are vulnerable and have nowhere to turn and no scheduled appointment. Regular social interaction and involvement in activity often brings clients through periods of depression, temptation and vulnerability. For some clients a little place of sanctuary can foster a sense of purpose, improve self-esteem, give hope and encouragement to keep going.Thank you.
