We are a charity providing educational outdoor adventure activities for disadvantaged and disabled young people of all abilities. Our main focus is children with special needs including young people with autism, Asperges Syndrome, Downs Syndrome, the hearing and vision impaired and a range of physically disabled young people including wheelchair users. Many of our young people suffer from one or more of the above. We also run courses for disadvantaged primary and secondary school children from mainstream schools in poor inner city areas. Our aim is to ensure that all young people, regardless of ability, special need or disadvantage, are given the opportunity to experience quality outdoor education, in a safe environment, to improve not only their physical fitness but their confidence and self esteem to enable them to meet the challenges of everyday life, today and in the future. We have recently completed an all weather wheelchair friendly sports area and upgraded the entrance paths to our sensory garden to make wheelchair access easier. Our next challenge is to raise the funds to build a state of the art indoor climbing wall with unique and specific provision for non ambulent youngsters, which will demonstrate to other organisations and individuals what we at Dukes Barn already know, that being physically disabled does not mean being excluded from exciting and healthily competitive sporting pastimes.

Social Link provides much needed support to adults with learning disabilities in South Bucks helping them develop valuable independence skills. Our charity was formed in 2010 expanding rapidly in its early years and currently providing weekly evening clubs in Aylesbury and Beaconsfield and 3 one day sessions in High Wycombe. Around 100 of our beneficiaries receive practical support through the provision of educational, social and recreational facilities. We are currently piloting a new initiative in Amersham for adults with mild learning disabilities who will benefit from developing real life independence skills.Our charity actively fund raises to continue its work and to expand its valuable support. Global Youth offer a lifeline to remote and isolated charities in developing countries, helping organisations to help themselves by: - Brokering resources, including fundraising in the UK - Building relationships; with other organisations, funders and decision makers - Capacity building; training, fundraising support and strategic planning Currently Global Youth is working with a remarkable organisation called ChildLife. Childlife is based on the Thai/ Myanmar (Burma) border, and provides support for children and young people who would otherwise have nothing. To date, Gobal Youth has been able to provide some grassroots support in the form of supporting volunteers, carrying out a needs assessment, staff training and strategic planning. Through our fundraising efforts in the UK we have also been able to provide the resources for ChildLife to employ an administrator and a nurse at the shelter and purchase essential equipment for the children.

The Bervie Play Parks Committee was set up with the aim of raising money to improve and expand upon the existing, limited, playground facilities in Inverbervie. We are a registered charity (SCO42985). Our strategy has been to involve the whole community in our fund raising activities so that everyone feels they have a stake in the completed project. Our emphasis has been upon family friendly events; monthly roller discos, Easter trails, Halloween parties and a Jubilee street party. We have organised a comprehensive program of children’s holiday events and in addition, we have compiled a CD showcasing local music. The Burgh Hall has been turned in to a cinema, showcasing the latest films. We persuaded fifty people to abseil off the North Water Bridge in Montrose. We have brought a wide variety of workshops and activities to the village, with card crafting, cave exploring, circus training and everything in between. We want to make sure the journey is as much fun as reaching the destination! Our first priority is to completely revamp the Church Street play park, turning it into a fully refurbished, inclusive play space which will be renamed "The Cutty Park". We'll soon have plans to put on public display and these will give a sense of the transformation. To date, we have raised £16,047.19, and for the completion of this park, we need to raise approximately £80,000. We have been overwhelmed with the support we have already received and look forward to having lots of fun raising the rest. We are committed to providing excellent play facilities for our children, to improve their health and well-being, and to make Inverbervie and even better place to live!
