The Rendezvous helps young people (13-25) to help themselves by providing advice, information and support, mentoring, qualifications and employability skills to those in our community who need it most. The Rendezvous is a much loved and well established local charity working with young people in Sherborne (Dorset). No one is turned away and through trust and understanding we often achieve where conventional services have failed. Last year we provided over 1000 specialist one-to-one support meetings and more than 700 hours of volunteer mentoring to help over 200 young people from the Sherborne area. At our drop-in centre we help resolve practical issues with housing and benefits; provide tutoring for English and Maths qualifications, match young people to volunteer mentors who give them a listening ear and encouragement and our job club helps with applications and preparation for interviews. We work in partnership with local schools and support services provided by the local and district councils, the NHS and other third sector organisations but receive little statutory funding meaning we rely on local support, fundraising events and grants to continue our work. (UK, XT34580) Browse eventsWords for the Wounded is a UK based charity that raises money via international writing prizes and donations for the rehabilitation of our wounded servicemen and women. We act as a conduit and pass the money we receive to projects such as Battle Back, largely funded by Help for Heroes which encourages wounded service personnel back into sport. These young men and women were at the peak of their fitness when life changing injury threatened to take their sense of self-worth from them. We want to help them focus on what they can do, rather than what they can’t. It is for this reason that we are supporting initiatives such as Battle Back which helps injured service personnel to lift the limitations caused by their injuries. At the same time Words for the Wounded wants to encourage writers and non writers to produce work of which they are proud. We want to unearth talent and lead people towards writing fulfilment - to help build confidence in those who enter, and those who are helped by the funds raised.

Help the Street Animals of Morocco was founded in 2006 by Claire Sedgwick, a Registered Veterinary Nurse and her partner, Rob White. Whilst holidaying in Essaouira, the poor health and condition of a large number of animals was like nothing they had ever experienced before. HSAM’s first trip was in 2007, where 107 cats were sterilised and 200 kittens were given vital treatment. HSAM’s mission is to create a sustainable and healthy street cat and dog population in and around Essaouira, Morocco. By sterilising, treating and vaccinating against Rabies we not only give the animals a better quality of life, we offer peace of mind to a local community where the threat of Rabies is very real. HSAM treats over 600 animal every year!
