The team (pre Covid 19) runs a Peer Support Group offering a hot, home cooked meal, every Wednesday evening to its service users. Back on Track, in partnership with Activate learning and other Oxfordshire based charities, aims to transform the lives of young people aged 15-17 who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET. Although we can’t offer accommodation, we are able to support young people who present to us as homeless. We can help by signposting them to the right people to get them on the housing pathway; help them to fill in any forms; and make calls to the necessary people. Unfortunately, before emergency accommodation is given, young people must be verified as street sleeping and so we can provide them with a tent, sleeping bag and access to food whilst they are waiting for this to happen.

The charity receives no regular public funding but relies on income it can generate, grants it can secure and generous donations from people who want to ensure the Botanical Gardens is preserved and accessible for everyone now and for future generations. YTD Raised: £0.00Financial Assistance for Medical Students (FAMS) supports financially destitute medical students in Pakistan who would otherwise be unable to become doctors through their 5 year MBBS course.These students are achieving high A grades and manage to get admission into medical schools through a tough selection process. However, they soon find themselves struggling to pay the high fees of the MBBS course. There are examples of many such students either have not been able to get admission or drop out after the 1st year due to lack of funding. For the last 10 years FAMS has been financing such students enabling them to complete their 5 year MBBS course by paying their tuition fees, hostel fees and food expenses. Since these students come from small villages and towns they need to pay for their accommodation and food in addition to their college fees. This is therefore 3 times more than the local student who commutes from the same city. We receive applications from all over Pakistan from financially constraint medical students. There is actually no other funding facility available to students in Pakistan. Banks refuse to provide student’s loan without guarantors which these students do not have. This is unfortunately self-perpetuating for the students who are most deprived and so they progress no further.FAMS has now a well-established infrastructure and a robust selection and screening process in place. We also monitor the progress of the students during their 5 year MBBS course. Students are selected for FAMS scholarship after appearing before a panel of a selection committee comprising of senior faculty members of the respective medical school.
