YTD Raised: £0.00

Mobex North East has been working with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people since 1991. We specialize in working with people who have little self esteem or confidence; offenders; people with mental health issues; and behaviour issues. Based just outside the centre of Newcastle we are ideally based to travel to any part of the North East. An essential part of learning and personal development, whatever people's age or circumstances, is to experience the world beyond the school, home or work environment. We provide the opportunity for people to take part in quality outdoor education programmes that can become one of the most memorable learning experiences of their lives. We help people to make sense of the world around them by making links between feelings and learning. These experiences can effect behaviour, lifestyle and work; they can influence values and decisions. We help people to discover what alraedy exists within themselves ... as Michaelangelo said, "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free".

Making The Change was founded as a pilot project to provide support to 16-18 year old young offenders who had completed the custodial part of their sentence. The intention was to help prevent repeat offending, and allow young men to become active contributing members of the community. Support was provided in a residential setting. In 2010, the trustees identified suitable premises and in January 2011, Brent Knoll House in Bristol was opened. The house was run with dedicated staff, who provided support to the young men whilst they were resident in the house, and in some cases, in the time following their departure. The trustees commissioned an independent report on the project to be carried out by the University of Gloucestershire. The project has the full support of the Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset. When the project was established, the Youth Justice Board agreed to provide a grant for three years, representing approximately 45% of the running costs. The trustees were able to raise the remaining costs from companies, charitable trusts and individual donations, and had considerable local support. In February 2013, the Youth Justice Board, with only six weeks notice terminated the grant agreement with effect from 31 March 2013, nine months before the completion of the three year project. The project was able to continue until 31 August 2013, using funds which the Trustees had raised. However the premature withdrawal of the Youth Justice Board grant meant that the Trustees were unable to complete the pilot project as planned. The Trustees do not consider that they have received from the Youth Justice Board a full and satisfactory explanation of why they chose to curtail the grant early. They are particularly disappointed that the success of the project and hard work that they and the staff had put into the project appeared to be ignored by the Youth Justice Board.  The successful progress of the project had been recognised in the interim report from the University of Gloucestershire, which had been shared with the Youth Justice Board. The Trustees would like to thank all those who have supported their attempt to find a way of reducing re-offending by young people.

YTD Raised: £0.00

In February 2008, Luke Cory was a happy 4 year old boy who had just started school. He was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia) and subsequently underwent numerous rounds of chemotherapy, only for it to return on 2 more occasions. Despite a bone marrow transplant, radiotherapy and all the advances in medicine, Luke tragically died in December 2009.His parents and friends have set up this Trust to give other families with children facing life threatening illnesses a chance of making valuable memories by funding a holiday home at Bunn Leisure in Selsey. Luke and his parents had this chance in the New Forest while Luke was well enough to go and they desperately want other families to have the same opportunity.Bunn Leisure Holiday Park in Selsey was a favourite of Luke’s and the location is close to Chichester Hospital, so children who need treatment or emergency care can be provided for.We are pleased to announce that in March 2011 we reached our initial goal and managed to purchase a caravan at Bunn Leisure Holiday Park. However the fundraising continues to enable us to maintain the caravan for years to come.We thank you for the support you are giving us, and assure you that any contribution, no matter how small, will be carefully used and is greatly appreciated.

Imberhorne CommunitySports Hall Small Change for a Big Change     Imberhorne School provides a great education for around 1700 pupils, but currently there is very little space for sport or music and drama. Imberhorne is the only school in West Sussex which does not have a Sports Hall despite being classified by Ofsted as an “Outstanding” school. We are raising funds to enable a state of the art facility to be built. Such a facility will also benefit the wider community as it will promote sport and the performing arts for everyone and we plan that it will be available for all to use. The School Governors have been working hard for more than a year and WSCC recently pledged £1.8m towards the building costs. Now we need to raise a further £200,000 to fullfill our pledge to the project. So far we have raised or have plegdes for about £120,000, but we need your support if we are to achieve our target. Detailed planning has been done with a view to start building in July 2012.
