Woodlands School accommodates up to 76 children with physical and sensory difficulties between the ages of 2 and 19 years. Many pupils have additional medical and other difficulties that may affect their learning. The school is a resource which serves the whole of the South West peninsula; pupils come from Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall to learn and develop their skills. The school has a wide range of specialist facilities and therapies on site such as hydrotherapy, dark and white sensory rooms, a creative arts room and highly trained staff capable of meeting a wide range of needs. Friends of Woodlands is a registered charity, whose aim is to raise funds to enable the school to purchase items which it would otherwise not be able to afford through normal funding. Such items range from sensory equipment to arts and music equipment, in fact, anything which enhances the lives and learning skills of the pupils. The Charity also funds activity days in the school holidays to allow parents and siblings of disabled pupils time for themselves. In the last year, Friends have financed new blinds for the hydrotherapy pool to help with the visually impaired pupils experience, and a floor-based walking piano, enabling wheelchair bound children to make music for themselves.
The Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) has a unique global role, in that it conducts covert operations in very hostile environments and is often first on the ground. This usually requires long deployments, putting extreme pressure on both the soldiers and their families. The primary role of the Special Reconnaissance Regimental Association (SRRA) is to support the wellbeing of former and serving Operators and their families. We are welfare-focused, providing our members, with a discreet and trusted network of support for themselves and their immediate families. Our small team understands the difficult working and living conditions of our membership – each having served in, or alongside, the Regiment for several years. We work diligently and empathetically on behalf of the President, Executive Committee and membership. The primary role of the Association is to support the wellbeing of former and serving Operators and their immediate families. This is enabled by our generous benefactors, supporters and friends, whose donations are spent in accordance with our charitable objectives. An overview of our charitable expenditure is available on the Charities Commission (England and Wales) registered charity number 1147005.

Our Charity The Charlton Park Academy Fund was set up in 2000 to support Charlton School, now Charlton Park Academy, a secondary school for pupils with special needs in the London Borough of Greenwich. The pupils, aged 11-19, have a variety of special needs including autistic spectrum disorder, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and emotional and behavioural difficulties. Many of them come from very deprived backgrounds and therefore face huge challenges to reach their full potential and be as independent as possible. Whilst the academy is funded by central government to deliver the students statutory education, the academy is constantly looking at ways to add to and enhance every student’s school experience, with the intention that this will raise self-esteem, boost self-confidence and ultimately give each student the greatest opportunity to achieve once they have left the school. Projects Such activities and projects of course cost money, and this is where the school’s registered charity looks to play its part. This, in practice, means working with the students, parents, staff and governors to look at projects that will provide the most benefit and impact to as many students as possible. Hence, the charity has raised money for projects large and small, such as the refurbishment of two sensory rooms within the school and the funding of after school clubs and residential trips. We are currently raising money for a new fleet of minibuses, our Minibus Appeal, computer devices for communication, residential trips and clubs.
We want St Peterʼs and St Nicholasʼ churches to be at the centre of the life of our growing town, to be available to all who wish to use them. These historic buildings need to be welcoming and accessible, with good community facilities, reflecting the needs people have when using our buildings.

Erskine provides specialist nursing and dementia care for former members of our Armed Forces. Founded in 1916, the charity has cared for over 75,000 ex-Service men and women through two World Wars and more recent conflicts and peace-keeping initiatives. This year we will care for over 1350 Veterans through five residential care homes in Bishopton, Erskine, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Current residents include men and women who served in the Falklands, the Gulf, Bosnia and Northern Ireland, as well as World War II. War isn't a thing of the past and neither is the need to support our country's Veterans. These brave men and women answered the call and risked everything for their country. In return, when they need care Erskine is there for them. As a charity, we rely heavily on donations and legacies from individuals, community groups and companies. By helping Erskine to raise much-needed funds you too can play a vital part in caring for our ex-Service men and women. We need your support!
