Lands End - John O'Groats - by bike! July 2011 Nigel Argall - our Director - will be (attempting to) cycle the 980 miles of the 'End to End' route in about two weeks starting on July 16th. He will be accompanied by all four of his grown up children and will be rasing money jointly for both 'The Bridge' and 'Childrens Chance' (see www.childrenschance.co.uk) - the Salisbury based childrens charity that gives young people from poor backgrounds support to engage with sport, music, cultural and travel opportunities. Please help us to make every mile worthwhile by sponsoring us and why not follow our progress on our blog: The Bridge is a Christian charity serving young people in primary and secondary schools in the Salisbury area. We have a number of key activities. We seek to challenge young people to explore spiritual issues in general and the Christian faith in particular, often done through lively and engaging assemblies, RE and PSHE lessons. We also seek to support young people in the transition to adulthood through after school clubs, emotional literacy classes, attendance projects, leadership training and tailored pastoral support for those having difficulty in school. We strongly believe in working with, and within schools to support young people in whatever way possible. We have five paid members of staff and about 20 volunteers and are welcomed into about 30 schools in the Salisbury area.

Challenge & Adventure is a registered charity, set up in 1992 to help disadvantaged and challenging young people on the Isle of Wight. We work with young people aged 12 to 19 and use adventurous and challenging outdoor activities alongside tailored support to help raise their confidence, self esteem and aspirations. The young people we work with include those with behavioural issues, those at risk of being excluded from school, those with physical and mental disabilities, the socially excluded and those from areas of disadvantage. Our aim is to help these young people re-engage at school, at home and in the wider community and to get their lives back on track. Challenge & Adventure relies on grants, donations and the generosity of its volunteers to ensure its work with young people can continue.

Caring for a child with a disability is something that never ends. It can mean being there 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. Many families of children with a complex medical need or a profound learning or physical disability really just want a break - a chance to do something that the rest of us often take for granted. The Children’s Respite Trust improves the lives of children with profound learning and physical disabilities by helping them to get access to short breaks.
