The more individuals and companies that can donate funds or time to help us, the more people we can support. People like Eddie and Dot. Dot had been Eddies carer for over 30 years when she was taken into hospital to have a knee replacement. All of a sudden the tables were turned and it was Dot who needed care for herself and reassusrance that Eddie would be looked after too. Crossroads were there for Eddie when Dot was in hospital, and are still there for both Eddie and Dot now that Dot has returned home. Our care will continue until Dot is fully recovered. There are thousands of people in the Manchester area just like Eddie and Dot who really need your help. Thank you, your support really makes a difference.

Medway Youth Trust (UK, 1124219) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

We have a zest for making a meaningful difference to young people’s life chances. Help us to achieve our goal! We are Medway Youth Trust, a charity with big aspirations for young people and our community. Our mission is quite unashamedly bold; to improve the life chances of young people. Every young person is unique. Whether a young person is achieving and living within a supportive family or whether they are struggling and face multiple barriers to their progression, they all require support and challenge to become the best they can be. So, we provide both open access and more targeted support. We provide vital support to some of the most vulnerable young people in our society; for example young homeless people, young people not attending school, looked after children, young parents and young people in custody. We provided support to young people who are trying to cope with a difficult experience; for example bereavement, relationship breakdown at home, and bullying. But we also provide support for gifted and talented young people who are unsure about their own aspirations. It is absolutely key to our charity’s work we are independent and impartial of any statutory agency because it means that the activities, information, support, guidance and advice we provide to young people is in their best interests and relevant to their lives, skills and aspirations. We also provide programmes which re-engageme young people, we help them develop employability skills and we work with employers to create work for young people. We help young parents get back in to learning and we provide small grants to young people in or leaving care where a little money can make a big difference. Young people are at the heart of our charity with two young Trustees, in addition to a young people's forum. We have a saying within Medway Youth Trust... "we start at the ends". We know the end results we seek to achieve. We are dedicated to achieving them. We need you to help!

Festival For Young People (UK, 1124641) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Our aim is to generate respect between the elderly and the young in order to connect the generations. Research shows there is little respect shown by the elderly for the young or by the young for the elderly. We try to do something about this sad state in our society by working for and with young people on any activity not being undertaken by other groups or organisations. We run an annual Art and Craft Exhibition to show off the skills and achievements of children in 14 of our local schools. This work is placed alongside art and craft produced by older groups such as Age Concern and Froxfield Over Sixties. Our seventh Exhibition will take place in July 2012 in the Festival Hall Petersfield. We raised £100,000 towards the cost of Phase 1 of our new skate park at Love Lane Recreation Ground, Petersfield which was opened in November 2010. Young people are now helping to design Phase 2 which will have an emphasis on providing features for young children learning to skate and  disabled people in wheel chairs. Many of the skaters are helping to raise funds for Phase 2.  We have set a Challenge for Year 11 students at The Petersfield School, after their GCSE Exams, to ride the SouthDowns Way from Winchester to Eastbourne ,a distance of 100 miles, in three days. The next challenge will take place in June 2012.  We have raised money to send young people on Sail Training Association Adventure Training Courses in Tall Ships and to the Sail Training Centre at Calshot.  We are developing plans with other youth orientated groups, to build a world class youth facility in Petersfield. Young people at Alton College, studying Graphic Design with Architecture have produced models of youth centres and BTEC students at Mill Chase Techinical College in Bordon have studied the ecological aspects of a new building and looking at heat pumps, light tubes, solar panels and the collection of rainwater to flush the toilets. This is an exciting project which will take a few years to develop. Our treasurer, Nigel Wells, is running in the London Marathon in 2012 and would be grateful for any sponsorship you may wish to offer.
