Open Hands is a registered UK charity that is determined to relieve poverty in Romania. We support neglected and orphaned children, as well as children and adults with learning difficulties. We work closely with Romanian charities and individuals in order to make a difference. Open Hands formed in May 2010 following years of volunteering within Romania. Some of the things we do and have done are: driving thousands of shoe boxes and many donations over to the vulnerable children we support, we built a playground outside a childrens home,we are supporting and providing equipment for a new autism day centre in northern Romania, arranged an operation to save a boys sight and are supporting a hospital with play therapy equipment for children from institutions. We also regularly help the very impoverished Roma community by buying new stoves, wood and food. Romania remains one of the poorest countries in Europe with 25% of Romanians still living under the poverty line of $1 a day, according to recent statistics, 1 within 3 children are living in poverty. Please help and stand together with us to make a difference in the lives of the poor and needy.
