Bridport Gig Rowing Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club (CSAC) specialising in sea rowing. Whether that is social, general or competitive rowing, BGRC caters for all ages, needs, and personalities! This is shown through our vibrant array of current members, who all want something different out of rowing. Members include an Olympic bobsleigh coach and an ex paralympic athlete! We row throughout the year out of West Bay, and when weather conditions prevent this rowing is moved to Portland where we make use of the more sheltered waters to get in our all important training. The summer is when most water based training takes place with the boats on the water almost every day, making use of the long, light evenings and warm weather. Some stunning sunsets have been witnessed and members commenting on the enjoyment they gain from a nice row on a warm sunny evening. The winter makes for less on water time but rowing still goes ahead every weekend and some weekday daytimes. As the nights draw in rowers look forward to the hot chocolate on the harbour side after a fresh row! However members make use of the local gyms and fitness suites to keep the fitness gained in the summer months.
