Until now, the donations were made from private individuals, but over the years, our work and ideas have developed and expanded. Our mission is to support education of underprivileged children in Africa and we are succeeding in doing so through our ever expanding support network of corporate and individual partners. Our aim is to raise funds to pay for internet connectivity, teaching, and training courses for underprivileged children. Funds are also allocated for clothes, food, school materials, school fees, toys and other items necessary for daily living of children in orphanages and children’s homes. We only make donations to organisations that we have personally met and that we have established long-term working relationships and a long-term support plan. Our main activities are currently in Ghana. Thanks for visiting our MyDonate page!We are Mums and Families, a charity that aims to break down cultural, religious and racial boundaries to help build stronger communities. We do this by focusing on running fun events where mums and carers of primary school children can 'learn about each other, from each other'. The mums and carers then take their learning back to their families. We believe that we have developed a relatively cheap, effective way to help mums and carers really start to appreciate what they have in common with people they previously thought were different. We'd love to link up with other school-based communities to help them set up similar groups around the West Midlands, and even further afield, but we need to find effective ways to tell them about it.We have a very low cost, small office space and a fantastic team of volunteers, but we need your donations to develop our website and publications to spread the word!Over the years we've managed to bring together hundreds of participants and we make sure they all go away being able to understand others in their community at least a little bit better. And it's all done through fun events, where everyone goes home with a smile on their face - a huge contrast, we hope, from the grim stories we get fed in the news about attacks motivated by misguided hatred or mistrust of others. Please help us to expand and grow, and push our positive message out there!Thank you Charity No: 1167922 Find out more Website Please click here to visit our website Twitter https://twitter.com/mumsandfamilies
(UK, SCO30260) Browse eventsThe Raven Trust provides practical, direct support to needy communities in Malawi, East Africa. We support hospitals and schools; contribute to orphan care programmes; stimulate economic development; and support local churches in all areas of their work. Several times a year we send containers of supplies to schools, hospitals and churches in Malawi - all goods donated by Scottish individuals and businesses. Teams of tradesmen from Scotland travel to Malawi to undertake a variety of building projects: past projects have included building houses for orphans; adding wards to a hospital and even building bridges. In 2012 a team will be travelling to Livingstonia to build holiday lodges for rent - this will provide a great source of income for the community who will then be able to use the profits to support their work with orphans.
(UK, EW40407) Browse eventsYoung Lambeth Coop (YLC) is a membership organisation that has been set up as a partnership between young people, members of the community, and Lambeth Council to revolutionise the way services for young people are chosen and run. Our main role is to choose and commission (which means pay for and assess!) services for young people. We work for the benefit of the community so it is our members who decide what they want for themselves and other young people in Lambeth. They do this by telling us in consultations (in person, by email or through surveys) and by voting. We’re really proud to say that YLC was the first organisation of its kind in London to enable the community to make decisions about their services in this way. Members are the most important part of our organisation because they tell us what they need and how they want money to be spent.

(UK, 1117435) Browse eventsThe end of communism has left Romania 8 times poorer than 10 years ago with 44% of Romanians living in poverty. Many families live in one or two room flats in high rise blocks, usually with their parents, siblings, husband and their own children all crammed into a tiny space. Work is hard to find. Facing extreme poverty, many parents resort to home-made alcohol. Their children face the resulting brutality and either run away to beg on the street, or are sent by their parents to beg for money for more alcohol. The children form groups to beg in underground stations and shopping areas, often sleeping underground next to the hot water pipes to keep warm. Every 5th Romanian Child is Exploited: some 900,000 of the approximately 5 million children of Romania are forced into extremely hard manual labour. HEAL Romania is an organisation that attempts to offer aid to children that live in poverty in the capital city of Bucharest in Romania. This aid may come in the form of food, medical supplies, jobs assisting street children and families in finding alternative places to live. Money is raised in England is then sent every month to a sister organisation called ‘Impreuna la scoala’, which is also run by the trustees of HEAL Romania along with a Romanian social worker called Ana Doina. Ana is a trained social worker with over 20 years experience and her understanding of the children living on the streets in Romania make her invaluable. Ana Doina has excellent working relationships with other established organisations in Bucharest that allow us to use their facilities temporarily. At present HEAL Romania is fundraising for a building of its own. Our plan is to open a day centre for street children and poor families to attend with our offices based here allowing those in need to drop in. Leading eventually to gain the funds to also open a night shelter. The mayor of the area in which we work has offered to help. But we not only need to raise enough for the building but also the monthly running costs to sustain such a project.

The Rendezvous helps young people (13-25) to help themselves by providing advice, information and support, mentoring, qualifications and employability skills to those in our community who need it most. The Rendezvous is a much loved and well established local charity working with young people in Sherborne (Dorset). No one is turned away and through trust and understanding we often achieve where conventional services have failed. Last year we provided over 1000 specialist one-to-one support meetings and more than 700 hours of volunteer mentoring to help over 200 young people from the Sherborne area. At our drop-in centre we help resolve practical issues with housing and benefits; provide tutoring for English and Maths qualifications, match young people to volunteer mentors who give them a listening ear and encouragement and our job club helps with applications and preparation for interviews. We work in partnership with local schools and support services provided by the local and district councils, the NHS and other third sector organisations but receive little statutory funding meaning we rely on local support, fundraising events and grants to continue our work.
