For over 30 years, SportsAid has supported talented young sports people when they need it the most - at the start of their journey to international success. SportsAid is the first organisation to recognise their talent, often when Mum and Dad are their only sponsors. Young athletes, both able-bodied and those with a disability, are nominated to SportsAid by their sport’s national governing body (NGB). This ensures that the right athletes are helped at the right time and in the right way. It is a proven and established process that makes a genuine difference. At the 2012 Olympics, SportsAid alumni won 20 of the 29 Gold medals achieved by Team GB athletes, including 5 of the 7 'Yorkshire' Gold medals. In Yorkshire in 2011-12, SportsAid supported over 200 of the region's best emerging athletes with over £150k of funding.

(UK, 1173769) Browse eventsThank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Awareness For Autism UK (AFA:UK) was founded in July 2013, with the aim and vision of providing support to other families living with autism. It soon became apparent that there was so much we were able to do - and therefore set out to make AFA:UK a registered charity. Off the back of this, we run very successful autism friendly football sessions weekly and have trialled and run autism friendly cinema and soft play sessions; which now run up to a dozen times a year. Through our fundraising, we have set out to donate sensory and educational equipment to individuals with autism, for use in school or higher education. By donating to AFA:UK, you will be helping us to continue supporting small projects, such as the autism friendly football sessions - and also the donation of sensory and educational equipment. Many people in the North East live in communities in the top 10% of the most deprived in the UK with few opportunities to access a brighter future. Some of the groups we regularly work with to provide these vulnerable and marginalised communities with support include: Young people Not in Employment, Education or Training; refugees and asylum seekers, Older people, gifted and talented young musicians, non-professional musicians, special needs adults and young people. The transformation experienced by participants can be substantial. Example: Michael had struggled with mental health issues, been criminalised and made homeless. He has now recovered - in part due to the support he received through DJ work with us. One of our music leaders provided him with one-to-one tuition, and supported him in group learning situations. His confidence has grown significantly and the psychiatrists working with him report that his mental health has improved significantly. helps us provide resources for workshops in the community pays for a Teaching Resource Pack pays for a class of children to tour Sage Gateshead
