(UK, 1161070) Browse eventsLollard Street Adventure Playground aims to improve the well-being of children and their families in Lambeth. We provide free adventurous play sessions for children aged 6-16 years of age. In this great safe space children can climb, build, run, create and explore in their own time and way. We encourage the children to initiate their own ideas and projects. Lollard Street Adventure Playground used to be a Lambeth Council run project but got shut down and remained derelict for 2 years in 2012.Thanks to a local voluntary organisation (Kennington Association) we have managed to re-open it back up to the community but now rely on funders and donations to keep the project going. Your contribution will go directly to helping the play project stay open and thrive. (UK, 1012177) Browse eventsOur work in BuryIn the Bury Metropolitan area we currently support around 300 families and individuals providing them with over 60,000 hours of support each year, helping carers make a life of their own outside caring, but there is much more that we could do if we can raise the funds.Fighting Carer Burnout. At present there are many more Carers than there are resources for them to get a regular break, which is why so many Carers eventualy have to stop their caring role simply due to their own ill health. Crossroads aim is to provide support for Carers to stop them being overwhelmed by the stress of caring and to stop Carers burning out and becoming ill. Every penny we raise through supporters like you goes into the work of supporting Carers or the people they care for. This ranges from provide emergency care hours to support Carers in crisis, through to projects for people with dementia and their Carers. NationallyDid you know Crossroads Care is Britains leading provider of social care? In 2010/11 we provided 5,180,818 hours of care..that's the equivalent of >591 years of care! Who is a Carer?A carer is anyone who (unpaid) looks after a person, be that a family friend, child, or neighbour who is; disabled; ill with a life limiting illness; has a mental illness, or substance abuse problem, where that person could not manage without that support. Exhausted Carers need a break.A significant number of such Carers provide more than 50 hours of care every week, and without the services of Crossroads Care they may never get a regular break to have some time to themsevles. Many other Carers, who may not do as many hours each week, have been caring for someone seven days a week for up to 10 years or more. People not profitAs a charity, we care for people not for profit. Our Support Staff love their work, they understand what Carers and those they care for need. They know its the simple things that really matter, they do the unpleasant jobs with a smile and take pleasure in working hard to fit into family life.Thats why Crossroads Care are the people Carers turn to.Fully trained staff - Flexible serviceOur fully trained staff provide Carers with regular time to themselves, be that daily, overnight, weekly, or ad-hoc as required. Clean, accessible water for all is an essential part of the world we want to live in and there is sufficient fresh water on the planet to achieve this. However, due to bad economics or poor infrastructure, millions of people including children die every year from diseases associated with inadequate water supply, sanitation and hygiene. ur story began in 2015 when I (Mark, founder & director) was in Ziguinchor, Senegal. When visiting the family of a friend I asked where they get their water from. The answer I received was shocking. 'There is a community well that serves the neighbourhood, it is an open well and the water is contaminated. We know that the water is bad and makes us sick so we add bleach before drinking it, especially before giving it to the children.' It was in that very moment that I knew that I had to do something to try and change this and so Fountain of Life was born. Our mission is to bring sustainable safe drinking water, improved hygiene and sanitation to those who have access to only unimproved facilities through the use and application of appropriate technologies and education.

(UK, 1144121) Browse eventsAngels Charity was set up to make a difference for some of the worlds poorset children. We wanted to find ways to help them in a practical sense, but more than that, we wanted to give them hope, to help them realise that maybe there could be a different life for them beyond the slums. The reality of children living in extreme poverty and on the streets poses great challenges. Angels has developed initiatives that provide a lifeline, help to restoreself-esteem, provide hope and make the transition back into society and school life easier. A simple fun musical educational and feeding programme focuses on the children's traditional musical culture whilst at the same time teaches phonics through song lyrics both in their native language and in English. After these fun sessions we feed the children and, through our '3 Bags Full' programme provide them with better clothes, the basics for keeping clean and much needed rudimentary educational equipment for school life. Together, these simple initiatives can have a profound and lasting impact on the lives.
