It is a cancer that responds very poorly to all available treatments and can only be cured if caught very early and cut out before it has spread. Ed Showler was a loved and respected doctor training to be a haematologist when he was diagnosed with incurable clear cell sarcoma. The foundation was set up in his memory with three core aims: 1) To support medical research into the underlying processes that lead to clear cell sarcoma, with the hope of developing new and more effective treatments for future generations 2) To provide opportunities and funding for experience days for patients and their families suffering from clear cell sarcoma, so that they can continue to enjoy life despite their diagnosis 3) To enhance awareness of soft tissue sarcomas within the medical profession to improve early diagnosis and treatment outcomes
