Style Acre supports people with learning disabilities in many different ways.  Each person we support is encouraged to make choices about his or her life, style of living and access in the community. We provide supported living for 56 individuals, enabling them to live in their own or rented accommodation within the community and empowering them to lead full and active lives.  With two day centres, people can participate in a diverse range of activities, classes, skills development and events. We actively seek work-experience & volunteer opportunities in the community.   A forward looking organisation and with an excellent reputation in the disability, charity and regional community, we are committed to seeking innovative and creative ways of enhancing the lives of people with learning disabilities.  Your support will enable us to continue funding vital areas of personal development for people with learning disabilities, including communication, work development and IT for independence. Please follow us on Twitter and Facebook. Thank you. Jim (name changed to protect identity) is a man in his 50’s who has a diagnosis of autism and a severe learning disability. Until the summer of 2009, he had lived with his parents all of his life. As his parents were getting older, they approached Style Acre to discuss the possibility of supporting Jim. His parents were understandably concerned about Jim’s future as he had very specific support needs and undertook a very restricted range of activities. Style Acre worked with Jim, his parents and Jim’s care manager to very carefully plan his move into his own home sharing with two other men with similar needs. We also made sure that all of Jim’s wishes and needs were fully understood by the staff who would be supporting him. Jim moved to his house in the summer of 2009 and has made great progress. He now enjoys a much wider range of activities and life experiences than was previously the case. Staff are continuing to work with him to further expand his horizons and enrich his life with even more exciting and stimulating experiences. Jim’s mum and a close friend of his have both described his progress as “simply amazing”.            Sharing for the first time In July 2009, four young people began to be supported by Style Acre in a new house which had been fully adapted to meet their needs. Two of the young people had experience of living away from home at a residential college, but the other two people had not until then moved away from their families. Although the group have very different needs, staff worked very hard to plan their support individually as well as to offer opportunities for each person to spend time with others in the group if they so wished and to undertake a range of new and exciting activities (both as a group where desired or individually). Feedback from the young people, their parents and care managers has been very positive, with observations such as the house has a wonderful atmosphere, the staff are great and one of the young people’s mum observing that, as a result of the support being provided, “...my daughter is now growing into the woman we always hoped she would become”.                                                                         Style Acre      Evenlode House      Howbery Park      Crowmarsh Gifford      Wallingford      Oxon. Scottish football and the wider sporting community has given its full endorsement to what Kris is trying to achieve, many people have backed the Charity with their time, effort and donations. The foundations have been put down and we now look to keep growing. But we realise that with the ongoing challenges of Covid-19 this is going to be difficult. But we plan to tackle everything head on, expand and offer more services, whether its helping to raise Mental Health awareness and also with increase Partnerships and Relationships with other charities, as well as well as businesses and support groups. You don't need to be a dentist to imagine the consequences, but the dental neglect shocks even the most experienced of this group of national dentists and their team. Abscesses, pain and distress, parents of these children in Morocco are no different to any other around the world, they want their children helping.Maybe a little pebble in a big pond but three years ago a group of dentists from around the UK came together to form the Dental Maverick charity to provide dental care in remote areas of the world Expanding significantly in 2012,the Mavericks numbered a team of 15, including 8 clinicians and their support staff of dental nurses and admin staff. Excited at the prospect of providing restorative fillings for the first time to complement the inevitable extraction work load the Mavericks met up in Southern Spain for the ferry journey to Morocco. Laden with a tremendous range of clinical equipment donated by incredible dental company generosity and public donation, dental care we take for granted headed for a North Africa desperate for the services of this western team.

We believe that everyone deserves the best possible care at the end of life. But in developing countries like Romania, Serbia, Albania and Moldova many patients still die in pain, without being offered any physical, spiritual or emotional comfort. Struggling healthcare systems offer little or nothing in the way of hospice care. Every year more than 70% of adults and children diagnosed with cancer in Romania, will experience unrelieved pain. We have cared for over 40,000 patients and trained over 20,000 medical professionals. The first in-patient hospice opened in the city of Brasov, Romania, in 2002 and a new hospice in Bucharest for patients with advanced cancer was completed in September 2014.
