Jesus Shaped People (UK, 1169938) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

Jesus Shaped People describes itself as a ‘whole church discipleship adventure’. It radically refreshes a church’s vision of what it means to follow Jesus Christ, in ways that are deeply spiritual and thoroughly practical. JSP began in the parish of Tong and Holme Wood in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and gained Trust status in 2016. It is steadily spreading throughout the UK, as churches find it to be a remarkably effective tool for healthy church development.   A core principle of the Trustees is that JSP is offered to churches without any charge – many of these are serving heavily disadvantaged communities. However as interest in JSP expands, there is need of fresh financial resources to sustain and grow this vital work. The immediate challenge is to raise £100,000 a year, initially for three years, to fund the creation of a small central staff team that will spread our work with parishes and individuals across England.  This team will consist of a full time director, a part time children/youth co-ordinator, plus administration and web support. We hope these posts can be in place as soon as possible. We warmly welcome donations from churches and individuals, and are grateful for them, whether they be large or small, to help us meet this challenge.  Individuals can make donations through this facility – and may increase the value of their donation to JSP through making a Gift Aid declaration if they are paying income tax. Churches wishing to donate to JSP should refer to other information on the website by clicking the ‘donate’ button on the main menu.  Charity No: 1169938 Find out more Website Please click here to visit our website Facebook https://www.facebook.com/jesusshapedpeople Twitter https://twitter.com/jesusshapedprog

With changes in public sector funding, financial support from other sources is increasingly important to continue the development of our Centres of Excellence, maintain our commitment to open access for students from all sections of the community and to develop a stimulating environment in which people can learn, contribute and succeed. To achieve this we need your help. Your contributions will make a real difference to the life and work of our students. The Chancellors Fund We invite you to join us in supporting The Chancellor’s Fund to build a fund that will support current and future generations of talented students. The fund supports: Matched Funding - making your gift go further The Government Matched Funding scheme provides an opportunity to significantly increase the value of philanthropic donations. Every £1 donated to the University has the capacity to unlock an additional 50 pence. This means that a gift of £1, together with Gift Aid and matching funding increases the value of the donation to £1.92. The matched funding scheme runs until the end of July 2011 and therefore it is vital that we maximise this opportunity now.

Adonai UK (UK, 1136724) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Adonai UK supports the work of Adonai Family Uganda (AFU), a Ugandan NGO based in Namugoga. Their mission is to reach the needy and vulnerable. We coordinate child sponsorship, raise funds for specific projects, and raise awareness of the need in Uganda and the work of AFU. Adonai - Where Love Becomes Action We believe that every child deserves a decent start in life. That's why we support the work of Adonai Child Development Centre - part of AFU. Here children are not only given a good education at Adonai Primary School but are also cared for holistically. Adonai children are looked after in terms of health, food, clothing and pastoral needs. Some of the children need the safety of a secure refuge to stay in either on a permanent or temporary basis. Others just need support so that their extended families can take care of them. All this takes a great deal of work and a wealth of resources. So how can you help? A one-off donation of £5 will buy a mosquito net. A simple but potentially lifesaving piece of equipment. A donation of £5 will buy sheets so that a child can sleep in comfort. A regular donation of £5 per week (£20 per month) will change a child’s life. Sponsorship will mean that they will be included on the Adonai health care and food programmes, have their school resources needs met, and be kept a loving and watchful eye on by Aloysious Luswata and his team. Any amount donated to the food programme, no matter how big or small, will help ensure that more children and their families receive food supplies. Any amount donated to the Health Care programme, no matter how big or small, will help ensure that an adequate supply of medicine can be kept and hospital treatment provided when needed. Would you consider supporting one of the adults who care for these precious children? As the number of children needing care grows, so does the need for adults to care for them. Houseparents and teachers all need salaries. £40 per month would fund a houseparent but any amount paid on a regular basis, or as a one off donation, would help greatly. A vocational project is underway to teach the children valuable farming skills as well as aiding Adonai to become more self-sufficient. We’ve bought land but now need to build accommodation on it for the children to stay in when receiving training; to fund carers to look after them; to employ a farm manager. Any amount as a one-off donation or regular payment will help. AFU is encouraging and supporting micro-finance projects in the local community so that families become self-sufficient. Would you consider helping a project to get started? For more information on any of the above or any other matters relating to our work please email us at [email protected]

The Fergus Maclay Leukaemia Trust (UK, SC031907) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Fergus Maclay Leukaemia Trust was set up in 2001 in memory of Fergus who died in November 2000 at the age of 19. The Trust's main aim has been to explore ways of addressing nutritional issues which are a major concern in the treatment of children and young people with cancer. Nutritional problems are a source of great stress for families. The provision of appropriate nutrition to their child is one of the major contributions they can make in the "high-tech" arena of modern cancer therapy The trustees are currently funding a two year project in conjunction with the University of Edinburgh and doctors in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh. The outcomes of the research will produce consolidated information on many aspects of nutrition. This will give doctors the confidence to provide well defined recommendations on nutrition for those young people undergoing treatment for cancer. It is expected that the outcomes of this first project will open up further aspects on nutrition for cancer patients that will require to be addressed; the trustees will therefore require additional funds to continue this much needed work.
