Mount Hawke Youth Group was formed in 1982 to meet the needs of young people living in the immediate and surrounding rural communities. It is a voluntary managed organisation, governed by a constitution, and has been registered with the Charity Commission since 1992. MHYG started life as a small village youth group, meeting one evening a week in the village hall. As the group began to develop and grow, the young people were encouraged to participate in prioritising their needs, which resulted in the establishment of the skatepark project in 1989. The skatepark is considered a landmark venue hosting local / national competitions and opportunities to young people.
It provides relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage in Zimbabwe and helps orpaned children with education and survival needs.
