Our Aim is to provide food and education for children living in shacks in Sir Lowry's Pass Village, near Cape Town in South Africa. We started in 2003 with a Feeding Scheme in the village, followed by the opening of our Creche in 2004. The four houses we built to comprise our Children’s Village were opened in 2010, and in that same year the Hope and Light Primary School was opened. 6 years later, we now have 6 grades of children, each with not more than 27 in a class. We continue to provide breakfast and lunch, and transport in our own School Bus to and from school, all forming part of a complete support package at the school. In the UK, we work to raise funds to support the ongoing projects in South Africa. Our primary aim is to find sponsors for individual children living in shanty houses in Sir Lowry's Pass Village. The sponsorship funds are invaluable in enabling the support, education, and feeding of the child throughout their time in the care of Hope and Light. The children are taught in English, as this will be of most help when they leave school and seek employment in the tourist area in which they live.
