The project also provides extra help to students from poorer families so that they can complete their education successfully. Training in sewing is provided for young women so that they can support their families. Mothers who cannot read are provided with adult literacy and small grants are available to widows who have no other source of income. The Friends of Khasdobir make regular donations to support the work and we invite you to do so using this page. We hold fundraising meals and organise an annual sponsored walk. Please consider supporting this valuable work in Bangladesh. The project has been in existence since the 1982 and many of the children and young people the project has supported now have good jobs locally as a direct result of support provided by the project. The Lucy Monro Memorial Trust was established for the public benefit in the advancement of education, human health (including the prevention or relief of sickness, disease, or human suffering) and animal welfare, through the provision of funding and direct aid, for immediate and tangible use.Lucy Monro was born and grew up in the UK, moving to the UAE – via a brief stint in Bahrain – in 1995. Her job as a magazine editor and publisher centered on equestrian writing and photography, but these skills also brought her into contact with people and animals in need of help and her life was marked by some amazing humanitarian and charitable efforts, based around animal welfare, education and humanitarian aid. Taking these three themes, LMMT will raise funds and then assist small, grass-roots causes and charities in each of these three areas, to achieve their aims, by making financial grants. YTD Raised: £0.00

Since its launch in 2005, the Aegis Foundation has identified, planned and delivered over 300 projects, predominately in Iraq. The aim is to carry out low-cost, high-impact community projects to help impoverished communities directly and efficiently, with respect and understanding of their needs and concerns. In addition to the immediate benefit to communities, the Aegis Foundation, where possible, focuses on the importance of establishing the foundations for local empowerment and future prosperity. It also maximises its impact by making every penny count through close liaison with its beneficiaries, allowing them to communicate what they really need, not just providing what we believe they need. Examples of projects in Iraq include; building toilet facilities in a primary school that previously had none, providing equipment to a village clinic, building water wells in villages that have no running water, and supplying sports equipment to schools. Every penny we raise goes directly towards funding these projects.
