First Story seeks to address the educational disadvantage faced by children in challenging social and economic circumstances. We strive to raise achievement, self-confidence and aspiration through creative instruction. We arrange and pay for acclaimed authors to run weekly creative-writing workshops for groups of students attending challenging secondary schools across the country. At the end of each project, we publish professional anthologies of the students' work and organise book launch events where pupils read their work aloud to friends, families and teachers. We aspire to develop First Story hubs in strategic locations across the country, which will ensure that every secondary school student has access to the creative provision to which we believe he/she is entitled. Please help us achieve this.

East Barnet Old Grammarians, known as EBOG, is an amateur football club open to all the community. It caters for men and ladies from age 16 upwards, girls and boys. Created, run, maintained and funded by its own volunteer members it offers affordable organised football competing in a League and several Cups. The Clubhouse and football pitches are located at the end of Alan Drive, off Mays Lane, Barnet. The Clubhouse was paid for and built in 1962 by the EBOG members of that era themselves (see photos right, of the tennis courts being built in the 1960s). Since then all maintenance of the Clubhouse and grounds has been paid for or carried out voluntarily by the members, apart from new pitch drainage in 2007 (see photo) for which the Club received a grant. Since the very first season, EBOG has suffered from the disappointment and drop in bar income caused by cancelled games because of sodden pitches. The new drainage has almost put an end to that (this Winter being an exception), but the clay soil means that the pitches must be dressed with tons of sand every year or they will soon go back to their original state. The sand however, costs thousands of pounds and this year in particular, EBOG needs to put as much effort as possible into raising funds. Every little bit raised adds up and could ensure that the Club continues to exist and thrive for the benefit of current and future members of the community. EBOG 12 hour football marathon!! The Rumic Foundation Trust was founded in 1993 by June and Roger Chapman.Their aim was to create mobility for young people in Cumbria. Today, we promote financial assistance to disadvantaged, sick or disabled young persons in the Furness and South Lakeland/ Copeland area of Cumbria to improve their health, to provide medical assistance and to further their education and employment training. Therefore, we co-operate with local charities and voluntary bodies in order to recover funds and donations to contribute a benefit to our young community. With our 10th anniversary we not only want to thank the people who supported us immensely throughout the years but we also intend to raise more awareness of our work. We aim to fundraise enough money to buy a new bus for our fleet so that we are able to expand our services and support more young people with their mobility, their school education and they lives. So be part of it!
The 197th provides activities for over 70 children in Bristol. Children come from many schools and we meet the needs for a range of physical, social and cultural needs. Through a few volunteers we deliver an exciting programme, tirelessly fundraising to keep this group going. On 17th April 2011 York Gibson will be running the London Marathon in aid of the 197th. Amongst other things it is hoped that sufficient funds can be raised to help install proper heating in the Scout hut so the children don't keep getting frostbite in the winter months. Come on, ask your family and friends to donate and help us reach our £1000 target!
Karers 4 Kidz was originally used as an umbrella term for parents, teachers, social and healthcare workers and all those who care for children and young people. Founded by parents of a daughter with cerebral palsy, K4K became a registered charity in October 2005. The charity has no paid staff and relies entirely upon its sponsors, partners and supporters in order to fulfil its objectives. We focus on projects that promote and advance the wellbeing of children and young people, in particular those who are disabled and disadvantaged. We provide inclusive educational and recreational facilities for disabled children in addition to campaigning for equality of access and opportunity for all. We provide information, support and assistance to those who care for disabled children, and encourage parents to work together for the benefit of not only their own children, but also for the wider community.
