(UK, 1155088) Browse eventsSince its formation in 1953 the League of Friends of the Kent & Canterbury Hospital CIO has raised nearly £7m, providing extra comforts and high calibre medical equipment for the benefit of patients, staff and vistors. Examples of the many and varied gifts are: an instrument set for the state of the art Da Vinci Surgical Robot, electric patient hoists for Occupational Therapy, 173 bedside tables for all in-patients, 113 electric Huntleigh profiling beds, numerous waiting room tables and chairs, bladder scanners and a recent contribution of £272,000 to the Hospital Trust’s appeal for digital mammography equipment. In addition, the League has funded the refurbishment of the Hospital’s hydrotherapy changing cublicles and jointly funded the creation of a sensory garden for Neuro Rehabilitation patients and their families The League also runs four highly successful hospital shops and a daily ward trolley round, managed by a small team of paid staff and 90+ dedicated volunteers. Other services include a daily Hospital Radio broadcast, ward library trolley round and a mealtime companion service, all of which exemplify our commitment to serve patients, staff and visitors to the hospital. Nine City and village groups form the backbone of the League and meet regularly to raise money from local events. Our main fundraising event is the annual joint Summer Fair in August which always takes place on the Saturday before the August bank holiday weekend, where hospital staff, League members and the public come together for an entertaining fundraising afternoon.

The Second Half Foundation (Reg. 1141988) was created in May 2011 with the mission of tackling loneliness and isolation for any person over the age of 50 years old. We wish to serve anyone affected by isolation from any background. We want to ensure that our growing population will have a place to develop more meaningful connections and continue to learn and grow. In October 2012, The Second Half Centre opened its doors to the community in the NHS St Charles for Health and Wellbeing in North Kensington, London. The Second Half Centre has over 4000 members, 500 attendees each week and provides 90 hours of classes and workshops weekly and is run by Open Age.

We are currently raising funds to establish a mosque in Abingdon as efforts to serve our growing community in the town and the surrounding villages.

He is a passionate and gifted communicator, who has shared the message of Jesus with over 300,000 people. His burning desire is to see those that don't know Jesus come into a living relationship with him, and for Christians to be set on fire to make Jesus known where they live
We provide a nation wide service to nurture generations of scouts and leaders who embody their faith, confidently demonstrate leadership and positively contribute to wider society. Our services include national camps and events, international trips, and capacity building training to adult leaders.
Since 1995 the Gwennili Trust has provided for the relief of the physically and mentally disabled, in particular ex-Service people, offering respite and educational opportunities onboard yachts. The primary beneficiaries for sail cruises are Personnel on Recovery Duty (PRD) personnel and military veterans associated with Service charities.
