KIIDs Trust Varanasi is dedicated to improving the lives of India's disabled children We endeavour to ensure that children have: 1. A safe, nurturing environment. 2. A positive, consistent routine to maximize their development. 3. Medical and therapeutic treatment. 4. Special education. Currently we are supporting the Integrated Institute for the Disabled (IID) in Varanasi which incorporates: 1. A hostel for disabled orphans / children whose parents are unable to care for them (up to 15) 2. A day care service offering sensory play and specialised care to disabled children across Varanasi 3. A special school offering needs based education to children with a wide range of disabilities. The IID is under-financed, under-resourced and under-staffed. Its success is a tribute to the love and devotion of a small group of dedicated individuals. In 2011, a key member of this team passed away, leaving the IID facing difficulties. KIID's Trust Varanasi was founded to support the IID through this difficult time. We work with the IID team: 1. Providing professional health / education advice. 2. Supplying both basic and specialised equipment. 3. Funding staff wages and children's board. 4. Developing, initiating, managing and participating in projects such as our vaccination programme. Donate today and you will be helping to improve the lives of India's disabled children!

The Pelican Post is an innovative new approach to improving access to books in schools in Africa. Visitors to the website can pledge to post a story book from a reading list direct to a supporting school. The main objective is for each school to receive twenty copies of the same story from individual supporters from around the globe so that teachers can practice shared classroom reading and children can discover the joy of reading. Below are just few comments from our growing community of supporters; "This idea is quite simply brilliant. The Pelican Post is not just about posting a single book but about leaving a legacy that will inspire countless generations of children to learn to read." Lenny Henry, Actor, Comedian and Comic Relief Champion. "Satisfyingly simple, I hope the Pelican Post continues to inspire young minds far and wide." Julia Donaldson, Childrens Author. "I have visited schools in Africa where Pelican Post books have made a real difference. Books matter to all of us but they matter most of all to children who cant take them for granted." Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media, Olympics and Sport. "What is very appealing about the Pelican Post is that I think it is rather nice for children to be able to read stories that they can identify with." Alexander McCall Smith, Author. "What a great idea - this gives the individual the opportunity to feel that they can make a difference. And the great thing about books is they go on journeys for whoever is going to read that book." Beverley Naidoo, Childrens Author. "Every now and again a small idea comes along which has the potential to make a big difference. The Pelican Post is one of those." John Humphrys, Journalist, Broadcaster and Author.

The church offers a Eucharist with a ministry of healing every Sunday at 10am. The service blends Anglo-catholic liturgy with evangelical preaching and is geared for growth, both outwardly in terms of new members and inwardly in terms of deepening people's faith, knowledge and love of God.

The mission of Family Support Projects (FSP) is to improve the life chances of disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people experiencing challenges at home, at school and in the community. To achieve this, FSP has developed a project called Nature Nurture. Nature Nurture is the first early intervention programme in the UK that tackles vulnerability and promotes resilience by combining free play and nurturing interactions in natural environments. Our approach defines resilience as ‘the mental, emotional and physical fortitude to recover from adversity and realise potential.’ Resilience is a key factor in breaking generational cycles of neglect and abuse and in building positive outcomes for adult life. Nature Nurture runs programmes for groups of 10 children or young people, comprising 20 sessions where they can play, challenge themselves, socialise, explore and create freely with the attuned support of specially trained staff. Many of the children and young people, aged from 0 - 16, come from families affected by substance misuse, alcohol abuse and domestic violence. We apply a strengths based approach to developing individual potential and we measure development using rigorous observation, recording and evaluation methods as showcased in the Go Play Outcomes Evaluation Framework. Nature Nurture works in partnership with referring agencies (social care, education and health). We value and promote close working relationships with carers, parents and other family members. Nature Nurture has a team of professionals, expert in understanding and nurturing vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people with a diverse range of needs. The Nature Nurture approach is cutting edge, based on current research and recent studies in resilience, health, well being and related fields. With sufficient funding the project can work with 120+ children and young people each year.
