(UK, 244075) Browse eventsHighway Projects is an organisation committed to supporting, befriending and working for disadvantaged people across the Middle East Highway Projects was set up in 1997 as a response to invitations from the Church in the Middle East to involve Christians in practical mission work. The focus of its work is amongst disadvantaged people from across the religious divide, especially within the Arab community. Over the years the work has taken us along the roads and into the towns and cities of the Holy Lands in which Jesus once walked, taught, healed, preached, died and came back to life. Our aim, ‘Sharing God’s love in Christ through word and deed’, is all about following in those footsteps and offering a genuine, creative, radical model of Christianity that shares our faith by giving others an opportunity to see it in friendship and action, and allows them to ask the questions about what we believe and why we do what we do. Our projects range from work with the elderly, the disabled, children, young people, practical work and reconciliation projects. Whether you are here to make a donation to support the work, or set up a fundraising page, we thank you for your support. (UK, SCO11359) Browse eventsBooks Abroad has, since 1982, donated over 2,500,000 books to overseas educational organisations. Each year Books Abroad sends approximately 200,000 good quality secondhand books free of charge to schools, libraries and other educational establishments in developing countries. We are totally demand driven, so our donated books are sorted, carefully selected according to requests received from the recipients and then despatched as a gift free of charge directly to those requesting books. Poverty means only a bare minimum or no such reading and educational resources are presently available. These donated books are of enormous value to children in struggling schools throughout the world and would otherwise end up in landfill sites. Books Abroad remains committed to alleviating poverty through recycling knowledge. Each book costs just 54p to send directly to where it is needed."Through your partnership and support, one more child in the slums will have access to precious reading material, something most of them only dream about. And you have made that dream come true. We look forward to giving out these books and witnessing the many faces of joy as the children receive your gifts. Thank you so much." Emily, Kenya

Ruxley Church is currently fund raising for its Memorial Project. It is a part of our vision that members of the church and local community should be able to remember the loved ones they have lost.To this end the church is providing a Memorial Book to be kept in the Chapel, recording the names of those who have left us and messages of comfort. An on-line Memorial Book will also be made available. Outside the Chapel the church intends erecting a Memorial Stone which will be used for times of communal remembrance and as a focus when local or national grief needs to find expression. Finally, our most ambitious objective is to build a Memorial space where the names of loved ones will be recorded on mounted plaques, surrounded by the beauty of an English garden. Each of these is for the church and for the community and we ask for your kind support in making these a reality. Our members have already donated sufficient for us to press on with the first two objectives; the garden will require more. Please prayerfully consider if you can help. All donations made through MyDonate will be towards the Memorial Project until the work of the Project is complete. Ruxley Church has been a Church of England and Methodist Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) since 2002 . We are one Christian family as we worship, learn and have fun together. We continue to grow in faith as we rely on God's provisions day by day.We want to share the good news of God in Jesus Christ in both words and actions, and help others discover that God's love and forgiveness are freely available to all.We are excited as we continue to worship in our new church building and explore the opportunities it is bringing us within our local community. We know that as we rely on God's Holy Spirit he will equip us daily to serve him more and more.Ruxley Church is dynamic in engaging with its local community and extends a warm welcome at Monday and Thursday cafe and Mother and Toddlers session. There are a host of other activities available such as dancing, badminton, men’s and ladies groups. We are also privileged to be able to support the West Ewell Food Bank.
