(UK, SC046926) Browse eventsThank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. We are a registered Scottish incorporated charity which aims to raise funds to provide relief from Malaria and poverty in affected regions across the globe, focusing on children who are the most vulnerable. The World Health Organisation states almost half the world’s population risk malaria with 214 million new cases each year, resulting in 500,000 deaths; mostly children, who can be infected up to 13 times a year. The mosquito bite can also be loaded with other dreaded diseases including Yellow Fever, Zika Virus, Viral Meningitis, Dengue Virus & Encephalitis. We purchase & deliver WHO approved, ISO compliant mosquito nets. Our long lasting, king sized nets have a cuboid design which creates a sanctuary for children to read/play whilst minimising skin contact during sleep thereby reducing bites through the net. We freely distribute these through existing Gospel-sharing Christian missionary & humanitarian outreach infrastructures which enables us to reach groups of people that mass distribution efforts by governments are unable to meet.Extremely low overheads means virtually all finances raised, provide the aid. £500 delivers over 225 nets protecting 4+ children each for 6 years . We also invest in their education, with Scottish schools sharing curriculum & teaching strategies with their local schools whilst providing school supplies & children’s clothing. Also, because most patients with similar ailments would spend at least 4 weeks in hospital for each round of chemo, anything to help the comfort of patients and promote a positive attitude would greatly improve their chances of survival.Yes, there can be Life after AML (and other cancers)!Ron was helped in his spell in Blackpool Victoria by the weather which allowed him to maintain a little fitness by taking walks in the park next to the hospital with his wife, Gillian. It was a different story in Manchester because the Stem Cell Transplant meant isolation in a room which took 15 paces to walk round! So, the Life After AML charity was born - to help aid the physical fitness, comfort and positive attitude of patients

(UK, 1162724) Browse eventsDreams really can come true. But for some people, it definitely means so much more. Dreams for children is a new charity that makes the wishes of children fighting life-threatening illness in Merseyside happen. We do this by working hard to raise money in order to see dreams come to life, creating the most special days for the most special people and ensuring that they have amazing experiences that help ease suffering. We also support families coping with the serious illness of a child through our support network. The charity was set up in memory of Catherine Strickland, who passed away in July 2013 aged just 12. Catherine died from a rare bone cancer called osteosarcoma, after fighting bravely for 2 years. Before she passed away, her family rallied around to make her remaining time as special as possible, where Dreams for Children co-founder Emma Strickland – Catherine’s aunt – was instrumental in arranging several special days for her most special of nieces. Our aim is to make sure as many other children as possible also have the chance to see their wishes become a reality because, as everyone knows, the best dreams are the ones that come true.
