YTD Raised: £0.00

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. The Poole Wau Partnership Charitable Trust (PWP) was set up in 2011 by the (Church of England) Poole Deanery to support the Archdiocese of Wau in the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Africa. Our three main objectives are to:Promote religious life both through the development of partnerships between Wau and the Poole Deanery and through the provision of financial support for theological training and resources in Wau;Advance education through funding of teaching staff, providing educational materials, and constructing & maintaining educational establishments; andRelieve financial hardship (due to poverty, sickness, disability or old age) of working and retired clergy and lay workers. Please donate to support our cause.Since 2011 PWP has received over £130,000 from compassionate and generous individuals and Churches. We are using these donations to support Wau, a region in South Sudan - one of the world’s newest countries. Wau currently has considerable needs, partly due to famine and internal conflict. Our initial project was to fund the building of a guest house in Wau – to accommodate visitors and to provide a revenue stream for the Church in Wau. The guest house was completed in 2015 at a cost of around £55,000.Our current focus is on education, both spiritual and practical. We have contributed around £40,000 towards education, centred on St John’s college in Wau, but including provision for more specialised training elsewhere in the region. In 2016 we committed to support the permanent theological teaching staff in St John’s college for a further 3 years. We are also hoping to facilitate the sponsorship of business students at St John’s college. In addition to our main projects, we responded rapidly to the recent unrest in South Sudan by sending over £27,000 to the Church in Wau to provide much needed food for internally displaced people. Pate's Grammar School (UK, XR10888) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Annual Fund 2013 - 2014 Dancing in the Rain Just because Pate’s is an Outstanding School doesn’t mean we’re immune to revenue funding challenges. Government funding is down £110k next year and we have lost a further £155k from commercial partners and the Pate’s Foundation (which was so generous in recent years helping fund our new refectory).  In total that reduces our income next year by about £265k. We will work hard to manage this ensuring that the core purpose of the school will not be affected.   In our latest Ofsted Inspection (2013), we were categorised as “Outstanding” in all areas. The report comments ….. “The academy pays considerable attention to the wider personal development of students and the range of opportunities beyond the formal curriculum is exceptional.” We are determined that these opportunities do not lessen in any way through lack of resources. We know the storm is upon us; we can either sit and ride it out or we can seek your support and start Dancing in the Rain.   With fantastic governor backing we have decided on the latter. We have always looked to our parents and alumni to help us provide the very best educational experience for our students. We are now in even greater need for our community to step up, dig deep, join those who are already supporting us and enable us to not only put up the umbrella but also to put on our dancing shoes. The Annual Fund 2013 – 2014, ‘Dancing in the Rain’, is vital to provide the extras that otherwise will be met with a sharp intake of breath and a shaking of the head. Please support us. Your children are worth every penny!

Angus Foodbank (UK, SC044095) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

In October 2012 Angus foodbank was launched by Strathmore Christian Fellowship under the umbrella of The Trussell Trust. Every day people in Angus go hungry for reasons ranging from unemployment to redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income or even unexpected illness. We provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis. Rising costs of food and fuel combined with static income, high unemployment and changes to benefits are causing more and more people to come to foodbanks for help. Angus foodbank partners with churches and communities throughout the whole of Angus to help and support people in need. Please donate to support our cause. All food given out, is donated by schools, churches, businesses, individuals, or through supermarket collections. These collections engage the public at supermarkets where they are met by volunteers who offer shoppers a ‘foodbank shopping list’ and ask them to buy an extra item with their shop. At the warehouse, food is sorted by volunteers according to type and ‘best before date’, and then taken to foodbank centres, where it is made up into food parcels for clients. Care professionals such as social workers, Citizens Advice Bureau staff, welfare officers, health visitors, Job Centres amongst others, identify people in crisis and refer them to the foodbank. Clients attend a foodbank centre where they receive a warm welcome compassion and three days supply of emergency food.
