The Space Science Engineering Foundation's (SSEF) current primary mission is to support the UK Space Settlement Design Challenges (UKSSDC). Comprised of National Video Challenge, 12 Regionals Challenges at universities and National Finals held at Imperial College, London for 15- 18 year old students. The SSEF also supports Galactic Challenges for 10 -13 year olds held at schools. The National Challenge pits 240 15-16 year old students against each other in 5 companies of 48 students each. The students spend a weekend designing and presenting their results to 12 judges from industry, government and Space Agencies including NASA and the UK Space Agency. The winning company selects 12 students to represent them in the International finals in Houston at NASA. The SSEF also runs a ESA Challenge and sends 12 EU students to the NASA's Kennedy Space Center. The challenge is an industry simulation that gives students experience in communication, engineering and management. The competition is supported by Imperial College London, The UK Space Agency, Dangoor Education, the Royal Academy of Engineering and several other government and organizations including the Royal Society. It is unique in that students are given a request for settlement design but limited adult supervision. it is truly remarkable what they achieve. The competition is in its 9th year in the United Kingdom. the International competition has been held for the last 28 years. All schools and science clubs are welcome to enter. Both state and public schools have done well in the past with 2010 and 2011 having students from City Academies representing the UK in the international final.

(UK, 1146858) Browse eventsWe aim to restore the historic church of All Saints to its rightful place as the heart and soul of Kingston upon Thames. The church was the site of the coronation of seven Saxon Kings, and also of the Great Council in 823 AD which first established the links between Church and State which are still visible in the constitution today. The proposed restoration will build on this heritage while at the same time developing the church’s role as a cultural centre and providing important community services to nurture Kingston's future.
