YTD Raised: £0.00

Sound Minds is a small Battersea based charity and social enterprise using the arts to improve the lives of people living with long term mental health issues. Our 'drop in', Mama Low's Kitchen, is a user led service that runs on Fridays at a local community centre. Attendees are unemployed because of their mental ill health. Mama's offers a safe place for people to support one another, share advice and enjoy a low cost meal and social activities. We are currently raising money to increase the range of our social activities, including running the ever popular 'Street Jazz Dance' class more often and to help subsidise outings and practical activities so people can feel more socially confident and increase their friendship networks Sound Minds largely serves Wandsworth and surrounding boroughs.  We believe in the transformative impact of the arts and mutual support in people's recovery from long term mental health conditions. The majority of staff, volunteers and trustees originally came to receive the service they now help to provide. Members participate in a weekly timetable of short courses, music and arts activities with regular performances opportunities and exhibitions. Sound Minds has built an award winning national reputation for innovation and engagement with hard to reach groups. We also run peer support services, whereby people with lived experience of mental health issues support one another. These include regular Ward Visits to support people in hospital, help as people leave hospital to settle people back home, and 'Mama Low's Kitchen', a one day user led drop in. Charity No: 1079521

The TPS Development Fund charity supports the advancement of the education of all students at The Petersfield School by helping to enhance facilities and provide equipment, resources and opportunities not normally provided by the Education Authority. The Development Fund is the School's main way of fundraising directly from parents. The Fund helps to enhance facilities and outdoor spaces at TPS as well as providing the best equipment, resources and opportunities to benefit all students. In recent years, we've invested in outdoor seating and canopies, the sculpture garden, library refurbishment, lockers, classroom IT kit, gardening equipment, the Radio Station, and helped with resources for many of TPS's thriving clubs and extra-curricular activities. Our most crucial donation was £30,000 towards the Studio@TPS when TPS secured its performing arts status. Thank you for supporting the TPS Development Fund.  Charity No: 801137 Find out more Website http://www.petersfieldschool.com/94/appeal-trust Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/146886415@N03/albums/72157677417380325

Woodland Ways Bushcraft Foundation (UK, 1158705) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Woodland Ways Bushcraft Foundation is a charity that aims to use the skills, history and story of bushcraft to provide tribal peoples around the globe with assistance where required or requested. This assistance is sometimes financial, is sometimes opening up access to opportunities, and is sometimes developing new opportunities. With the ultimate objectives being simple, we look to improve the quality of life of those individuals and communities that benefit from a lift up to allow themselves to overcome issues of poverty.  Based within the United Kingdom our reach is Global, with current key projects being undertaken within the Maasai community in Kenya. It is a pre-requisite for all projects that we support that it must be individually or community led by those affected, not led by the charity. Access to our services is for the benefit solely of those communities who want to lead themselves, we supply the means, knowhow and project management. All the money raised goes directly to the causes we work with. Not a penny is wasted. We are guided by strong ethics to ensure there is no personal financial gain from any of the team.

Brent Carers Centre (UK, 1066691) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Brent Carers Centre’s, supporting unpaid carers since 1994. Our vision is: “To ensure that unpaid carers are recognised, valued and supported to live rather than just exist." Being a carer is not something that people choose, they do it because they find themselves in a situation where their loved ones, cannot manage without their help and support. Carers care for a member of their family or a close friend who becomes ill, frail, has a mental health condition, a disability or suffers from an addiction. Carers often fall into financial hard-ship if they have to give up their jobs to care full-time. They become unable to look after their own health and wellbeing as a result of their demanding carer’s role. When a carers’ own health deteriorates or they reach breaking point, this can have a serious impact on them, their families, as well as the economy. Let’s not forget Young carers, as they are particularly vulnerable. They are very difficult to identify as they need additional support to understand they are carer and encouragement to come forward for support. We currently have over 5,500 carers registered with us, with the number growing every quarter.
