Kirklees Summer Playscheme Camp (UK, 1176481) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Kirklees Summer Playscheme Camp is a very special charity which gives children from many different backgrounds a holiday to remember. For over 40 years, thousands of children have spent their time off from school camping, playing games, and making friends at one of the longest running summer camps in the UK. Children, aged 9-12, stay at Woolley Edge Scout Camp for 4 days and 3 nights with 6 camps available over the course of the school summer holidays. Ellie, 10, who came to camp for the first time in 2017, said "I liked the multi activities, doing Hama beads. I enjoyed the tuck shop where we could buy sweets and glow sticks. It was fun to serve the other kids at the tuck shop; it gave me a chance to test my maths. I made lots of new friends and liked sleeping in a tent for the first time.”Your donation will help us support more disadvantaged children experience a very special summer holiday. Visit our website www.kirkleessummerplaycamp.com. Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Kirklees Summer Playscheme camp is a small charity  which has been operating since the 1960s.   We welcome children from a wide range of backgrounds including young carers and those with disabilities and we provide a subsidy for low income families.  The cost of the camp is £60 per young person plus a small booking fee. The cost for low income families is £30 plus the booking fee. The Camp is staffed by around 25 permanent volunteers  and we also have young people completing their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award residential. Jane and Duncan the camp leaders since 1988 have worked on camp since 1976 and they were awarded MBEs in the Queens Birthday honours in 2005 for their work at camp. Volunteers return year after year and form an extended family that meets twice a year to review and plan for the summer. We need to raise funds to subsidise children from low income families and to invest in tents and play equipment.  Charity No: 1176481

Society of Scottish Artists (UK, SC009586) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Society of Scottish Artists (SSA) was established in 1891 to ‘represent the more adventurous spirit in Scottish Art’. Its aims and objectives have evolved since those beginnings to include the representation of art from other countries and a more open arena for contemporary art activity across Scotland. SSA is an artist-led membership organisation governed by an elected President and elected Council consisting of around twelve members of the Society. Specialist professionals are co-opted onto Council to assist on particular projects. SSA continues its tradition of holding an Annual Contemporary Open Exhibition in the Royal Scottish Academy Gallery (RSA) in Edinburgh. Installation, video, computer and performance art alongside a strong core of works in traditional media result in challenging and invigorating shows. In an art-world where the divide between "new genres" and "traditional media" has rarely been wider, the SSA plays a unique and vital role in bridging the gap. Each year the SSA selects a number of graduating students from the Scottish art college degree shows to exhibit in the Annual Exhibition. SSA recognised the benefits of an integral education programme in its formative years and this groundbreaking policy has continued and strengthened to the present day, involving school groups, artist talks, workshops and gallery tours. Crossroads Care Manchester is a a leading provider of support for carers and people they care for in the city of Manchester and Tameside. We work with over 400 familes and individuals, helping carers find time for themselves through the provision of high quality care packages, including personal care to people with highly complex needs. We provide the special quality of care that gives our clients the peace of mind to let someone else step in to their shoes and support the person they love. As a charity we value the support of the communities in which we work so that we can reach out to more carers. The more individuals and companies that can donate funds or time to help us, the more people we can support. People like Eddie and Dot. Dot had been Eddies carer for over 30 years when she was taken into hospital to have a knee replacement. All of a sudden the tables were turned and it was Dot who needed care for herself and reassusrance that Eddie would be looked after too. Crossroads were there for Eddie when Dot was in hospital, and are still there for both Eddie and Dot now that Dot has returned home. Our care will continue until Dot is fully recovered. There are thousands of people in the Manchester area just like Eddie and Dot who really need your help. Thank you, your support really makes a difference.

YTD Raised: £0.00

We have a zest for making a meaningful difference to young people’s life chances. Help us to achieve our goal! We are Medway Youth Trust, a charity with big aspirations for young people and our community. Our mission is quite unashamedly bold; to improve the life chances of young people. Every young person is unique. Whether a young person is achieving and living within a supportive family or whether they are struggling and face multiple barriers to their progression, they all require support and challenge to become the best they can be. So, we provide both open access and more targeted support. We provide vital support to some of the most vulnerable young people in our society; for example young homeless people, young people not attending school, looked after children, young parents and young people in custody. We provided support to young people who are trying to cope with a difficult experience; for example bereavement, relationship breakdown at home, and bullying. But we also provide support for gifted and talented young people who are unsure about their own aspirations. It is absolutely key to our charity’s work we are independent and impartial of any statutory agency because it means that the activities, information, support, guidance and advice we provide to young people is in their best interests and relevant to their lives, skills and aspirations. We also provide programmes which re-engageme young people, we help them develop employability skills and we work with employers to create work for young people. We help young parents get back in to learning and we provide small grants to young people in or leaving care where a little money can make a big difference. Young people are at the heart of our charity with two young Trustees, in addition to a young people's forum. We have a saying within Medway Youth Trust... "we start at the ends". We know the end results we seek to achieve. We are dedicated to achieving them. We need you to help!

Rapid Aid Community First Responders (UK, 1135529) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Rapid Aid community First Responders, are based in Middleton near Tamworth, Staffordshire. We serve the community as a voluntary organisation that provides support to West Midlands Ambulance service, by responding to 999 calls with the area we cover. When a patient dials 999, we are dispatched by the emergency operations centre to commence treatment prior to the arrival of an ambulance. As we are based in the local community we can arrive on scene sooner than an ambulance, this can be invaluable in cases of cardiac arrest. We are never sent instead of an ambulance always in addition to the ambulance. The area we cover expands throughout Middleton, Tamworth, drayton Bassett, Bassets Pole, Sutton Coldfield, Chelmsley Wood, Coleshill, Water Orton, Curdworth, Kingsbury, Lea Marston and many more surrounding areas. All this cover doesnt come cheap though, with the increase in fuel prices and VAT it costs nearly £800 per month just to keep the vehicles on the road. We are always looking for donations, sponsorship and support from the general public and local businesses. If you feel you could help in any way then please contact us (details below). Rapid-Aid is a registered charity and as such all funds are gained from donations or fundraising events. Each responder volunteers their own time to respond to 999 emergencies. Please help us to help you.

Festival For Young People (UK, 1124641) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Our aim is to generate respect between the elderly and the young in order to connect the generations. Research shows there is little respect shown by the elderly for the young or by the young for the elderly. We try to do something about this sad state in our society by working for and with young people on any activity not being undertaken by other groups or organisations. We run an annual Art and Craft Exhibition to show off the skills and achievements of children in 14 of our local schools. This work is placed alongside art and craft produced by older groups such as Age Concern and Froxfield Over Sixties. Our seventh Exhibition will take place in July 2012 in the Festival Hall Petersfield. We raised £100,000 towards the cost of Phase 1 of our new skate park at Love Lane Recreation Ground, Petersfield which was opened in November 2010. Young people are now helping to design Phase 2 which will have an emphasis on providing features for young children learning to skate and  disabled people in wheel chairs. Many of the skaters are helping to raise funds for Phase 2.  We have set a Challenge for Year 11 students at The Petersfield School, after their GCSE Exams, to ride the SouthDowns Way from Winchester to Eastbourne ,a distance of 100 miles, in three days. The next challenge will take place in June 2012.  We have raised money to send young people on Sail Training Association Adventure Training Courses in Tall Ships and to the Sail Training Centre at Calshot.  We are developing plans with other youth orientated groups, to build a world class youth facility in Petersfield. Young people at Alton College, studying Graphic Design with Architecture have produced models of youth centres and BTEC students at Mill Chase Techinical College in Bordon have studied the ecological aspects of a new building and looking at heat pumps, light tubes, solar panels and the collection of rainwater to flush the toilets. This is an exciting project which will take a few years to develop. Our treasurer, Nigel Wells, is running in the London Marathon in 2012 and would be grateful for any sponsorship you may wish to offer.

The West Oxfordshire Vetka Association based in West Oxfordshire but with members nationwide supports schools, hospitals and sustainable developments in Vetka District in Belarus. This area is the place in the world worst affected by the nuclear fallout from the Chernobyl disaster. It will be two generations before radiation levels in parts of Vetka District reach acceptable levels and 244,000 years before they return to pre-Chernobyl levels.   This small local charity working in the radiation fallout zone of Vetka, Belarus (White Russia) was formed in 2001 by a small group of people concerned for the welfare and future of a people whose lives had been devastated by the Nuclear accident at Chernobyl in 1986. The area remains, to this day, one which is struggling with the aftermath. Large areas still remain closed to the population because of the very high radiation levels.   The charity’s current project is to rebuild and refurbish a building used by children with a range of Physical and Mental Disabilities including, Hydrocephalus, Cerebral Palsy, Sight and Hearing problems, and a wide range of learning difficulties.    Photos in the gallery show: 1.
