This is achieved through the twin pillars of academic excellence and character development. (UK, 256756) Browse eventsAs you arrive in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the stunning sleek, black lines of Britain’s first iron-hulled, armoured warship, take your breath away. Launched in 1860 to counter the threat posed by the French Navy, HMS Warrior was the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet. Powered by steam and sail, she was the largest, fastest and most powerful ship of her day. Such was the pace of Victorian technological change that she was obsolete by 1883 and hulked in 1898. Following this she performed a variety of roles including forming a part of the Navy’s training school, a coastguard unit and a floating pontoon, before being transferred to Warrior Preservation Trust. In 1987 after extensive restoration, HMS Warrior returned to Portsmouth to take her rightful place within Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The Warrior Preservation Trust depends entirely on income raised from visitors, fundraising and events to preserve the ship for the benefit of this and future generations. Thank you for your support.

Burntisland Playgroup has been opened since 1976,with 24 children aged from three to four attend five sessions a week. The group is in partnership with Fife Council Education following the Curriculum for Excellence. Burntisland Playgroup is a registered charity based in our local community centre. We provide high quality care and education for pre school children in Burntisland and the surrounding areas. Although we are in partnership with the local council and receive some funding for eligible children, this barely covers wages and rent, so we rely heavily on fundraising and donations to provide us with any day to day resources and activities required. We have a management committee elected from the parents/carers of the children that attend our group, who tirelessly try to raise enough funds to provide their children with quality resources and activities throughout their time at playgroup. Burntisland Playgroup could not survive without the generosity of the many individuals who support our fundraising events and the companies who donate money for specific items/activities. We are always grateful for any donations to make our work possible.
