Bidna Capoeira (UK, 1139987) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Bidna Capoeira needs YOUR support for our work improving the lives of traumatised children through the Brazilian sport and art-form of capoeira.  We believe our projects are unique, helping highly stressed children and young people in fragile, fractured communities break cycles of violence and improve their educational performance by expressing themselves through music, dance and movement.   Capoeira is non-violent and non-contact and teaches self-respect and respect for others.  Our projects take place with the support of a psychosocial counselor to help children move forward from the abuse and violence that often surrounds them, to get a better education and make more positive life choices.    Any gift can make a big difference to our work, but a regular gift helps us to plan better for the future.

Community Network (UK, 1000011) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Community Network is committed to combating the devastating effects loneliness and social isolation have on health and well-being.  We do this by bringing people together in groups on the phone to create Telephone Communities, allowing people to actively participate and discuss the matters that mean the most to them and most importantly have the vital human contact that many of us take for granted.  We are helped by volunteers who give their time and their skills and we keep our costs as low as possible.   However, we need your help connect up more isolated people through our Telephone Communities. £8 can help a lonely, housebound person connect with others through a Telephone Community group. £60 can connect up 6 people for an hour reducing their loneliness.  £140 can train a volunteer Facilitator to lead Telephone Community groups, improving health, wellbeing and reducing feelings of loneliness. £10 helps to pay our necessary running costs such as rent, postage, salaries. Any gift, however big or small, you can give will go to making a difference to the life of a person who might otherwise be feeling alone, depressed or isolated.  Thank you.
