East Riding Theatre will engage and challenge local residents and visitors through accessible, world-class performance in a welcoming and exciting venue. East Riding Theatre has experienced huge response from local and national professionals and regular theatre-goers . We aim to develop audiences, as part of our inclusion and diversity policy, in an environment where less regular theatre-goers will feel at home. Beverley is a popular tourist destination and its own professional theatre will reflect positively on the local economy. We are highly honoured to have Dame Judi Dench as our Patron and playwrights John Godber and Richard Bean as Ambassadors. East Riding Theatre has earned support from the local business community, many of whom have contributed work in kind and have attended fundraising events. Their contributions will be acknowledged in our literature, our ‘wall of fame’, and through our sponsorship schemes. Our way forward relies on an operational theatre which we would like to get up and running as soon as possible. With the assistance of everyone, a functional theatre space, within an already stunning building, can be quickly achieved. The building needs some fundamental alterations to ensure its suitability for public access. Fundraising for its refurbishment programme is now underway and we need to raise £150,000 in total. We'd love people to become involved and we really value fundraising activities and the help of our many volunteers.
