(UK, 1132788) We are a 12th century church called St Mary in the heart of a growing village called Billingshurst in West Sussex. The village has a population of some 10,000 people and this number is rising fast with new developments. St Mary's Church has served this community for over 900 years but its ancient building, although beautiful, is now needing a major re-fit to make itself of better service. To do this we have undertaken what we call St Marys Transformation Project. Our objective is that St Marys becomes a building to inspire our community through social interaction, environmental projects, and awareness of heritage. We want to host schools, clubs and societies and hold concerts, fayres, exhibitions, and festivals. There is so much we can do. We particularly want to encourage and support disadvantaged or vulnerable groups and central to our project are the principles of equality and inclusion. We are building access doors, access toilets, a café, removing pews and doing so very much more to make St Marys a welcoming place for everybody. Our vicar writes: “We want to open the doors of St. Mary’s Church building to share the space with the whole community”. Our vision is St Mary’s Church is a building that the whole community can use and enjoy while maintaining its core purpose of being a place for those who seek to worship Christ. 1st Chertsey Scout Group

(UK, 1055895) 1st Chertsey Scout Group have recently celebrated 100 years in scouting. We are a popular group with around 90+ young people from 6 years old and a leadership team / executive committee of around 20 people. We are raising money for a new scout HQ so that we can provide scouting for another 100 year for the young people in the local area. The group are regulars in annual events such as Black Cherry Fair, Chertsey Agricultural Show, The Ploughing Match, The Christmas Post and other events in the area. None of this would be possible without the help of our enthusiastic leaders and parents. The hut we are hoping to build will be purpose built in Staines Lane Chertsey. Not only will it provide a top quality HQ to do scouting in but an asset in and to the local community. Now about the challenge we would like you to sponsor us for. Two of us will be walking all the way from London to Brighton. The walk, yes we must be off our heads but ha ! its worth it if it helps us get a new HQ. 61 miles (100km) is no easy challenge and we are hoping to do it around 24-28 hours non stop. Please sponsor us and know that every mile we do is helping us get another part of the HQ built. Hopefully we can make a good start in getting the money we need to make Chertsey scouts HQ the best that we can provide. Thanks for reading and hopefully donating to this Steve and Paul
